Dell E4310, I5, UEFI, 60 gig SSD, 8 Gig of ram, running 32 bit installed to hard drive because my 64 bit cd kernel panicked which probably means a bad burn.
32 bit cd installed nicely, but of course does not recognise all 8 gig of ram since antix 4.0.5 kernel is non pae. No biggy though. Debating on whether to install pae kernel a and stay 32 bit or start over with Live USB of 64 bit AntiX 15. No hurry or stress though. Kinda liking my new Lappy though. Always love a new toy. __{{emoticon}}__

Booted in seconds on this Kingston SSD. Fresh install. No tweaks yet. More of a test run as proof of concept in UEFI than anything since the 64bit cd was being non cooperative and was making me think bios was locking me out at first. Now for smxi after I post this.

Edit: Finished smxi. Fully dist-upgraded. Uninstalled some stuff. Installed some stuff. Slow internet connection tonight.

No /swap being used with 8 gig of ram. For what I need that will suffice for now. For the 4 series kernel suggestions.
Running Jessie , it likes to run 3 series kernels because of libs according to h2 and smxi script.
It throws you out of installing a kernel that does not meet jessie lib requirements.

Just got in this free IBM Z60M laptop from City Hall.

========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://www.notebookreview.com/notebookreview/lenovo-thinkpad-z60m-review-pics-specs/"
linktext was:"http://www.notebookreview.com/notebookr ... ics-specs/"
====================================

Bottom sticker says XP
Celeron M Single CPU
Only 512MB of ram.
Hard drive and caddy pulled. Cover is present. (missing caddy, no big deal, make home made)
Intel wifi G card at least is still there.
Just a test run on CD using the DVDROM/CDRW drive on here.
Virus killed this unit plus newer tech is being brought in with my tax dollars.

At least I got something out of it.

No hurry yet bringing this into service yet. Pretty nice unit after I cleaned
it up. Needs more ram and a sata hard drive though. Bios has usb boot capability
but this was a quick test to see what works and what does not work.
Nice big side speakers on the keyboard deck.

Everthing. Sound, Wifi , Touchpad, DVDROM, Movies, all work out of the box.
This Laptop makes a good AntiX candidate .

Posting this from Win7 with Opera, so specs are from memory...Installed Antix-MX-15.01 32 bit on all!
1) Acer V5-171, 8 GB RAM, Intel i5 3317mu, Broadcom wifi (which many distros will not detect). Mfr date ~June 2012. Triple boot with Win7/MX-15.01/Manjaro 15.12 64 bit XFCE.

2) eMachines em250, 2 GB RAM, Intel Atom N270. Dual boot with Win7 Starter/MX-15.01

3) Ancient homebuilt desktop, 32 bit Athlon 2200+, MSI nForce mobo manufactured circa 2006; 1792 MB RAM. Win7 HDD crashed a year ago. Installed MX-15.01 on newly wiped and partitioned 120 GB HDD, as system's only operating system. Recognized the other 3 HDDs installed directly and indirectly on the mobo, and which Win7 did NOT before its unlamented crash. No wifi installed, just Ethernet. Works GRAND!

4) Newly purchased closeout Lenovo 14" Thinkpad Edge E455, AMD A6 (mfr Sept 2015). 6 GB RAM. Quad boot downgrade-rights Win7Pro/MX 15.01/Netrunner Rolling 2015.11 64 bit/Sparkylinux 4.2 Multimedia.

5) (purchased off ebay $56) Asus Eeee 1005 HA, Intel Atom N270, newly installed 2 GB Mushkin CAS-5 RAM; HDD wiped. mfr mid 2009. Triple boot MX-15.01/LXLE 14.04/Manjaro 15.12 XFCE; with working frugal install of Porteus 3.1 XFCE on removable SD Card (bootable with beforehand tweak of BIOS).

This is my newest piece of equipment, a Dell Inspiron 5558 with 8 GB of memory and 1 TB disk, among other things. It runs great compared to the two laptops that I increasingly run with antiX - the Gateway 2000 PA6A and Lenovo 3000 Y410. Both of those have tested many antiX releases (along with MEPIS and MX).

Now this Inspiron 5558 will be my every day piece going forward and the others will be for"old" system testing.

It runs great compared to the two laptops that I increasingly run with antiX - the Gateway 2000 PA6A and Lenovo 3000 Y410. Both of those have tested many antiX releases (along with MEPIS and MX).

Now this Inspiron 5558 will be my every day piece going forward and the others will be for"old" system testing.

are your dual-graphics working? and if so, did you set that up manually or idid it just work?
I have no idea about that because I am only using the laptop's screen and no other graphical capabilities. I will tell you that any software in the antiX family runs extremely well (and fast) on this hardware, and I've installed MX-15, antiX 15, and I've also experimented with antiX 16a1 in a couple of live, frugal modes, and things generally work.

I built this machine with antiX as my system , mostly because it's so stable and the cpu's run just about cold doing anything I do.
The CPU is a Haswell 65 watt version which will do just about anything in antiX without breaking a sweat.
I can run a full screen HD video at about 20% load and it looks super on my 28" ACER monitor.
The MOBO is all military grade hardware and should last a very long time.
Absolutely love this system.
Thanks for a great distro also..

HP Elitebook 8440p w/Intel graphics and Intel Centrino 6200 wifi. Had to do to get wifi firmware to autoload and working at proper speed on my 802.11g network:

cd /lib/firmware
ln -s iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode iwlwifi-6000-5.ucode
ln -s iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode iwlwifi-6000-6.ucode

Create / etc /modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf containing:
options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=0 swcrypto=1 11n_disable=1

Only things not working is modem (Agere HDA"(lose)winmodem") - don't need but haven't found any support for; and the fingerprint reader that I don't care about, but is reported to work w/Linux. Antix was originally v13.2, but has been rolling-updated thru all current non-beta"Testing/Jessie" packages.

This is one sweet Antix Linux box! __{{emoticon}}__

, died on me , after I borked a cpu upgrade on it. I figured I killed the mother board so I grabbed what I could salvage
off of it and trashed the rest.

So. I bought this unit. Took out the Windows 10 hard drive. Dropped in the above trashed laptops hard drive. That already had AntiX installed on it. Then proceeded to dial it in to fit into this new laptop. Which is a beast of a unit I might say. I changed kernels to pae because of ram specification changes. You will see the difference between the above link and the inxi readout below.

I could not install the Liqourix 4.7 pae kernel because of gcc4 and I did not want to change repos to testing from Stable/jessie on here. inxi will reveal all below.

So long story short. Yes. One can install AntiX 32 bit on a single core antique IBM Z-60 laptop. Then transfer the hard drive to a IBM Lenovo T430 I5 3rd generation cpu laptop with UEFI and it will boot. If you know what you are doing. Lucky for me. I do. __{{emoticon}}__

I could start over with 64 bit AntiX. Like from scratch. But I have all this data loaded on this drive and it was kind of nice it just fell right into place with a minimum of fuss.
Just a wireless and wired internet name change <eg:eth0 to like eth2, eth1 to like wlan0> in wicd preferences because of hardware changes. A newer kernel for newer hardware.
dist-upgrade needed a"apt-get -f install" to finish without erroring out with a error code 1.

All in all. A painless switch-er-rooo. __{{emoticon}}__
