Taking rutilt off dhcp setting seems to have fixed the freeze issue. Icon now stays on the taskbar. I commented out sleep 2 && wicd-client & entry in .icewm startup and wicd-client &. If I could save my connection settings in rutilt instead of reconnecting manually each time I log out I will be good to go. I add rutilt & to startup for .icewm and .fluxbox startup files. But that just brings up the start connection window. No active connection saved from last session.

Stayed up Late. Decided on a reinstall to start fresh. Did my reinstall. Then first thing was research dbus errors for wicd in Debian. Found a bug report like I was having with dbus messages in wicd 1.6.

Basically they said do a apt-get update. Which I did. Took it one step further and did a apt-get upgrade. Then reboot.

Got rid of the dbus message opening wicd. But Nothing is seen in wicd. But somehow I found a workaround messing with the taskbar icon. Left click just brought up the empty window in screenshot 1 below. Right click icon and it would scan and find my Network. Connects up like Ubuntu Network Manager though there is no Automatic option checkbox in the icon window. So Wireless works in wicd. Just strange as hell, like it is a crippled Network manager (Ubuntu like, creepy). Rutilt works but doesn't stick on reboot. Ceni nevers sees my ip address but sees my router. Any hows. lagopus,

I think I have found the 'problem' with gksu and the antix2usb-gui.sh script. Nothing to do with your script, but I had left the older antix2usb.sh part to get transferred.
Hopefully now fixed.
Sorry for the headache that it caused.

False alarm.
antiX-base works fine with antix2usb-gui.sh and calls gksu for root.

Still not working on antiX-full. I think the problem is something to do with dbus and gksu.
sudo antix2usb-gui.sh does work fine, so I will use this in the antiXcc at least for the next test release on antiX-full (coming very soon).

There needs to be a couple of changes to the script though.

1. /etc/init.d/hal stop before the script starts its work and /etc/init.d/hal start when it has finished.
2. Some warning perhaps or check that the usb stick is not mounted or if it is to tell users to unmount via rox/pcmanfm before running the script/gui

anti,

I made a 180 degree turn (is it correct in english?) for antix2usb-gui.
Back to pygtk (glade not needed)
I did not have full control on the bash/gtkdialog script. The headache came with passing parameters forth and back between bash and gtkdialog.

I hope I will have a working gui at the end of the weekend. Got to write a pair of callbacks and plug in the script.
Same controls, same minimal set of parameters, but no more roxterm: the output of the shell will be redirected to a Text Widget.
With pygtk, I'll have more control on the parameters, on error conditions (interrupt from keyboard...)
gksu will be called from the menu and will launch the gui, instead of gksu being called somewhere between a gtkdialog shell and a roxterm...
And later... localisation with gettext.

I have also to take into account your suggestions and BitJam's ones.

After that I hope I'll have more time to test/to use M8.5 !!

anti, please update /usr/share/locale/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/rox.mo
Currently it's almost not translated (I've sent the .po file as a patch to rox-filer).

Also please update IceWM's pt_BR menu changing 'Lousa' for 'Quadro' to match the term adopted in the translation:

Code: Select all

menu"Área de trabalho" /home/sergio/.icons/Polar-Icons-2/scalable/places/user-desktop.png {
   menu"IceWM" folder {
      prog"Editor do menu" - icemc
      prog"Reiniciar IceWM" - killall -HUP icewm
   }
   menu"Alternativas" folder {
      prog"Painel Rox lig./desl." - paneltoggle.sh
      prog"Lousa Rox lig./desl." - pinboardtoggle.sh  <= change 'Lousa' for 'Quadro' here.
   }
Thanks.

I thank you, anti.
But as an irony, after all the transalation work I found that I missed to fix the tiny error (missing space at the end of the symlink mouse tip) that first led me to look at the translation.
But now it's fixed and I uploaded a new file at

If I see that there are other things then I may upload the original pt_BR.po file but I don't think there will be.

There's a link bookmarked in OU812's folder to a blog (I think it's called 'use Icewm') that is dead.

Just commenting: do people use cdw (the ncurses burning app)? I tried to blank a cd-rw with it and it would 'freeze' and I remember I didn't have much luck with it before too. So I ended blanking from the command line with cdrdao (easy) and burning with 'burn', a command line tool (very easy, but must look out for it not to delete the iso at the end - I used it because I didn't figure how to do with wodim just taking a look at the manual). <- BTW, this refers to antiX-base.

Edit- oh god, it's not the first time I post in an older test topic, there are so many of them... __{{emoticon}}__
