When do you get the blinking cursor? Right at the beginning?
Usually this is a bad burn.
md5sum is here:

Checked MD5 checksums. (Thanks for supplying the checksum.) They're the same.
Made CD at minimum speed so that shouldn't be the problem. (anyway the intro splashscreen shows up right)
Still just getting a blinking cursor (on a dark background).

I get the blinking cursor immediately after I choose"antiX-base-desktop" (or the other options).
(Minimum burn speed I have available is 8x. Used all other InfraRecorder defaults: [General] Buffer underrun protection; Pad data tracks; Close the disk after writing; Eject the disk after writing(!); [Advanced] Allow overburning )

Like I said, that is usually down to a bad burn or bad media.

Tried again. Same results. (Looks like I'll have to search around for an old old old CD writer.)
Can you recommend a url that describes how to burn an iso on a (memory) stick? Some sort of stick-InfraRecorder Maybe that's more reliable than a CD. (Anyway, CDs are hard to come by these days. Most of the major BigBox stores [e.g., COSTCO] have stopped carrying them (DVDs also!!) and the smaller ones are offering them at a huge price markup.)
btw: Is there some way to"checksum" the material on the burned CD?

USB Installer question:
I'm looking at pendrivelinux.com and notice that it seems the program needs to be preprogrammed to recognize different Linux releases...down to distribution level (e.g., Mint 13, Cinnamon, WifiWay 3.4, Dreamlinux 5...)!
Since antiX-base-t3.iso is still in testing phase I assume it is not supported by this particular program.
Is there a (general purpose) program or procedure out there that will create a bootable USB stick for AntiX distributions?
Or a (specific) program or procedure that will create a bootable USB stick for antiX-base-t3.iso?

I've gotten unetbootin to boot antix on a pendrive. If your bios is old and won't boot off of pendrive. I also installed antix via pendrive on my IBM a22m laptop with usb 1.1 and no bios support for booting pendrive.
post20495.html#p20495
I have a floppy drive on this IBM a22m I used to boot the pendrive with a Plop boot floppy disk I made.

Just in case you have a floppy drive also, (I don't know)
You can also make a PLOP boot cdrom disk instead if no floppy drive.

I'd suggest also cdrw disks. I find them at the dollar store. 5 pack. But. Some old cdrom drives won't boot cdrw disks either sometimes. At least in my experience.

Floppy drive...hmmm...oh you must mean that slot used to hold business cards... __{{emoticon}}__
Although the prospect of using a floppy disk to do anything these days is enticing, I'll first try UNetbootin.
1) I went back to my main Windows machine (where the t3.iso is located) downloaded Unetbootin, and"installed" the .iso onto a 4 Gb stick.
2) I safely uninstalled (and ejected) the stick, put it into this laptop (the one with AntiX/Windows dual boot), and rebooted the machine...
3) I immediately hit F2 to make sure EVERYTHING (CD ROM Drive, Cardbus NIC, Onboard NIC) came BEFORE the Hard Drive in the boot sequence.
4) The computer thought a while...and booted off the hard drive.
My conclusion would be that a Dell Inspiron (or any computer) has no way of booting off a memory stick--that no usb device can be recognized until after the boot sequence has taken place--but if that were true, programs like Unetbootin would never work.
What did I do wrong?

Reason I say this.
onboard nic is not usb
and of course. cdrom is not usb. Hence bios is too old with no usb boot option. Just like this IBM A22M I am posting with right now.

thought so...
So I made a a Plop boot floppy disk.
UNetbootin'd the antiX-base-t3.iso onto an empty memory stick (USB).
Restarted and menu'd [USB...] my way down to UNetbootin:
Default
antiX-base-686 (LiveUSB)
antiX-base-686 (Home Persistence)
antiX-memtest (test system memory)
antiX-base (desktop)
antiX-fluxbox-no-icons
antiX-fluxbox-desktop-nouveau
antiX-add-cheats-xorg
antiX-home-persist
antiX-root-persist
choose antiX-base-686 (LiveUSB)
screen went dark (no blinking cursor)
[tried again a few times; reformatted and re-UNetbootin'd the antiX-base-t3.iso onto the memory stick (USB) (it reported the files were all there and I had it rewrite over them) - same results]

Try a few other menu options like antix_fluxbox-no-icons maybe.

All the other options either work the same way (just a dark screen) or don't respond at all (the UNetbootin screen stays up)
except: antiX-memtest (test system memory) which responds with the message (a clue maybe??)"cannot load a ramdisk with an old kernal image"

I GOT A NEW WIRELESS CARD!!!
Since:
a) AntiX (current version) does not seem to accommodate the Belkin wireless Cardbus card.
b) I am unable to get the new (testing) version to work either through a LiveCD install or a Plop boot floppy disk/UNetbootin memory stick install.
I’ve gone a different route. __{{emoticon}}__
I’ve secured a (new!) AirLink Super G Wireless Cardbus Adapter. (a wireless card like the Belkin, only not a Belkin) Model# AWLC4130
Now the card comes with a CD and installation guide for Windows, but I don’t think I should have to install it in Windows in order to get it to work in Linux (otherwise no one would have single Linux boot machines, for hardware install purposes)
Problem is, AntiX doesn’t seem to recognize this card either.
Is there some sort of install routine I need to go through in Linux to get this card to work?

Not enough info yet to say anything yet about that new card you are using.Problem is, AntiX doesn’t seem to recognize this card either. Is there some sort of install routine I need to go through in Linux to get this card to work?
