A lot of times I change my mouse pointer to be either yellow or red, and I try to use other colors for my background. That works, for me at least, better than either a black or a white pointer, but if I cannot get around that, I try to have at least an outline around the pointer that has a contrasting color, and sometimes that helps. But yellow or red usually do the trick the best for me.

I wrote a suspend and hibernate script using the post from Gullible Jones. The hibernate option worked flawlessly. The suspend option gave me the following errors:
Error org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.UnknownError: /aufs/usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux/hal-system-power-hibernate-linux: line 36: /usr/bin/hal-find-by-capability: Input/output error
/aufs/usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux/hal-system-power-hibernate-linux: line 36: /usr/bin/hal-find-by-capability: Input/output error
(I guess using a desktop to test these features was pretty stupid.) Any ideas on the suspend? Does this mean that my laptop doesn't support this option? Is there a workaround? Etc? Thanks.

GJ - You're right, the suspend and hibernate options that I posted are hacks. They were based on a *buntu workaround for the edgy (?) release. Good catch.

Massinick talked about changing the color of the mouse pointer. How does one do that? I couldn't find it in control center.

Thanks.

Easy. Use synaptic and grab some cursor themes then as root:

Code: Select all

update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme
Select the one you want and then restart x.

Thanks, erie! I'm not sure this will make it in the control center, but I'd like to see it in the wiki.

Seems like a good idea to me.
Any request for cursors themes?
Must be small and in the repos.

I thought of crystalcursors and dmz-cursor-theme

It's a great idea to include this as part of control center. And I forgot to thank Erie for the info, so...Thanks Erie!!

I downloaded the chameleon theme and I'm happy with it. I used synaptic which listed several choices.

Any way to list the possible choices in control center and let people make up their minds?

Thanks.

You should have several installed already. There really aren't that many through synaptic but a few and each package contains some choices as well.

I don't know of any way to preview them other than selecting them and restarting X.

Anti - I'm emailing you the new control center. I'll let you decide which cursor themes to include on the iso. Thanks again erie and mariel for the discussion.

i hope the black cursor theme will not be removed and will remain in the options __{{emoticon}}__ because i don't see nothing black in the screenshot options.

The default option core is the black theme.

john, thanks so much for including this and all the other work you have done on antiX!
Thanks too, anti; I'm really looking forward to the 8 final!
