Hmm, an insist. Ok, no desist.
Sunflower and 4pane install on both a souped-up P4 and a P200MMX. Onto antiX-M11-486 and -686 full, fresh installs. No segfault, working OK, exploring them. Thanks for tip.

For file managers I use
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://igurublog.wordpress.com/downloads/mod-pcmanfm/"
linktext was:"PCManFM-Mod"
====================================
with HAL for automounting or there is a"nohal" build which can use a"devmon" script by the same developer for automounting via udev. All my internal partitions show up in the sidebar & USB drives are always detected. It can be configured similarly to Thunar ("edit as root" / extract / compress etc...)
I'm currently testing
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://spacefm.sourceforge.net/"
linktext was:"SpaceFM"
====================================
which automounts with udisks.

I don't think that this is really a bug, but I just thought I'd mention it anyway.

Pidgin needs gstreamer0.10-alsa for sound to work correctly. Synaptic needs apt-xapian-index for the quick search function to work.
