Yes I can confirm that.

For ALSA Pre-Amp plus Equalizer, antiX should ship with three files that are missing from RC1.
/etc/asound.conf
/usr/share/pixmaps/alsamixer-equalizer.png
/usr/share/applications/antix/alsamixer-equalizer.desktop

Once the conf file is in place and ALSA restarted (or the system rebooted) everything works OK.

Because there is an Alsamixer Equalizer entry in the Control Center, the menu file will be hidden by default, but a user may choose to show it in the main menu if desired (perhaps by Menu Manager). It can also be started directly from the alsamixer interface, F6-->Enter Device Name=equalizer, then press the enter key.

Note: The Pre-Amp will be automatically and permanently added to the alsamixer interface after the first playing of any sound file
e.g. Control Center-->Hardware-->Test Sound

Tested the rc1.1 live with Swedish language settings. Shows the US flag after autologin (can't be toggled) but the desktop is correctly in the Swedish language. Logging out and in again fixes the flag. Tried it on three different computers with the same result.
When investigating this, I stumbled upon something else: When logging in as root instead of demo, the desktop isn't loading completely. It's stuck with the message"Session is loading. Please wait....". The same on all computers and with different desktop environments.
Haven't installed yet.

Thanks Henry.

Ah, I think I may have spotted the problem. In the fbxkb app the image for the Swedish flag is 64x40 pixels while the images for almost all other flags is 60x40. I made a 60x40 version of the Swedish flag and that seems to have fixed the problem. It goes in /usr/share/fbxkb/images/.

I checked all the other languages/countries supported by fbxkb. Two others, dj.png and mx.png (ha) have flag images that are the wrong size but I don't think these layouts are supported by antiX so they didn't cause a problem. Selecting the Korean layout consistently caused fbxkb to crash but I think this is a separate problem.

Edit: Added the two other flags images that also needed to be resized.

Connectshares Configuration

Control Center-->Network-->Connect Shares

The icon is incorrectly pointing to connectshares.png
It should point to connectshares-config.png

The title should include the word"Configuration" or"Configure".
Connectshares is the term used to connect to and mount shares on a remote system.

Vesa loads in place of Savage. Personally. I am a happy camper with vesa on this legacy laptop.
So no big deal for me. I have to disassemble this unit tomorrow and swap out ide hard drive to the other
test drive. Before the install goes on this. I'll let you know if anything comes up on the install process later on.

I don't expect any problemos though.

I saw this before with chrispop99. I investigated and there are no hardware aliases for the savage driver. You can see this with the command:

Code: Select all

 grep savage /lib/modules/4.0.5-antix.1-486-smp/modules.alias
although many are listed in the

. The lack of hardware aliases means that hardware that needs the savage driver will not get auto-detected so the savage driver will not get loaded automatically.

I might be able to kludge together a work-around for this but when I asked chrispop99 to use xorg=savage it froze his machine. Therefore I figured that defaulting to vesa for savage hardware was not a bad thing. Please try xorg=savage and see if that works for you. It should cause the X server to try to use the savage driver.

If I grep for"nouveau" instead of"savage" in the modules.alias file, I get these lines:

Code: Select all

alias pci:v000012D2d*sv*sd*bc03sc*i* nouveau
alias pci:v000010DEd*sv*sd*bc03sc*i* nouveau
which correspond to the information on

. Note the vendor ids (10de and 12d2) are the same in both places.

As for the missing sis315_dri.so module, I think this is due to the fact that we are using a sis graphics driver from outside of Debian and it may not include all the bells and whistles although it does seem to have code for dri support.

(Further information regarding Savage graphics on IBM T23.)

On an install, I tried manually altering xorg.conf to use the Savage drivers. The result was a freeze on re-boot.

I also tried sgfxi; it detected the Savage graphics, but told me no driver was available.

(Again, it's not something I'm bothered about; just offering information for someone who might be.)
