A load of new antiX builds for you to test out.
All based on Debian Testing.
R=Rolling
D=systemD version
V=sysVinit version
Available as core-libre and full for both 32 and 64 bit.
These should work ok, but there are some issues (minor ones I hope)
gftp and mirage are broken until they get fixed upstream.
you may need to add swap and any other partitions to etc/fstab after installation
sysVinit installed boot might have a long (30 secs) 'waiting for dev to be popukated;. If so, edit etc/udev/udev.conf and change"info" to"err" uncomment and then rebuild the initramfs with (as root)
update-initramfs -k all -u -t
No idea if snapshot and remaster work. Please let me know.
Enjoy and provide as much feedback as possible.

excellent work! __{{emoticon}}__
Installation without problems (dd, USB stick)
as fluxbox user I found no way for the installation.
Had to select icewm-rox.
missing in fluxbox-menu groups all icons
it is a pleasure to test this beautiful work!
Thank anti and all!

Compaq CQ57 running
Sound, Touchpad Tap, Mounting in rox as user , wireless, SD card slot mounting. All work
Just made the cds. I am just testing on my newer laptop 1st before I move on to my older gear later.
Next boot is i386 RD. This was i386 RV I just posted. I connected up with wicd to wpa2 psk encrypted wireless network.
My inxi report was made before I connected. So that is why wlan0 is shown as down.

Back again on same laptop with i386 RD. Played with Menu>Desktop>Alternate Desktops. Cycled through the choices.
Anything with icons hides conky. That is why I never run Icons on a Desktop. I know conky can be tweaked not to be hidden but I like
a blank desktop except for conky anyways.
Tested mic and camera in guvcview. Made a quick recording and my ugly mug and voice played back just fine.
That is it for this latop today. I expect the 64 bit ones to work ok on this laptop also. Here is the inxi report for RD.
The only thing I saw different between to 2 i386 releases so far is Iceweasel brought me here as the home page in RD.
In RV home page was Debian Iceweasel Google.
Now to box up the cds and move on to the old gear. Where things get interesting.
I will mention. On grub boot screen on this modern laptop. I just hit the enter key to boot. Like a clueless new user.
No special F key boot parameters were used in either test. Just a drool out of the corner of your mouth test/boot. __{{emoticon}}__

Nice catch male. __{{emoticon}}__
Motorcycle shop desktop. Emachine 3507. Came out of the trash bin.
Got a lot of peliminary errors initially on bootup. But she settled down and made to a desktop.
Happy That RV 1386 made it up to a desktop in a live session.
Nothing broke so far as I can tell. But. For Now. Just booting the cds to see what will boot or not.
No special F key boot codes selected on this boot up also.
I mentioned in chat. RV i386 will auto eject cd on shutdown. RD i386 will not.
RD i386 just powers down leaving the cd in the tray.

Thanks Roky. I will work on that. I need to figure out how to get systemd to play nicely with others. Or even just play with others at all. I may need a cudgel.rokytnji wrote:I mentioned in chat. RV i386 will auto eject cd on shutdown. RD i386 will not.

Thanks for everyone's feedback so far.
Just for kicks - I managed to get 64 bit version systemd to boot in 7 secs in VBox!

yowza! that's fast!
A couple of quick points so far...I've only run live or live w/persistence so far with the 64bit systemD full vesion:
1. So what will be the preferred method of adding items to a startup menu? Editing / etc / desktop-defaults/startup? Will entries be added in control center for that?
2. Is it possible to incorporate adding of an existing .desktop file the"Personal" menu? The add menu item requires you to know a lot of things that a .desktop file already knows.
2. Add .desktop files under Tools doesn't do anything.
3. Add Desktop under"Desktop" sound like adding another window manager to the system, but is actually for adding .desktop entries to the menus. May I suggest this be shown as a menu entry under Personal and Applications at the top level rather than tools. Just a thought. In any case it needs renamed.
4. While adding apps via. apt updates the menu, adding an app via gdebi failed to auto-update. I'm unsure why. Maybe a fluke, will retest. This was with google-chrome-stable. recordmydesktop added from apt auto-updated the menu just fine.
5. All of the desktop-session appointed apps show up in both the"preferences" menu and the"other" menu.
6. there is no entry for synaptic.
7. ceni will not work with my wireless anymore. wicd still works. intel iwlwifi wireless.
8. the menu entry for Desktop>WIndow Manager launches the appropriate config files for the various window managers. However, the default geany settings open any previously open files, so opening icewm files and then fluxbox files gets you twice as many config files as expected, and some named very similiar. I suggest shipping with the geany editor configured to NOT open previously open files.
9. had to manually turn on swap with the liveUSB.
10. Inxi reports the desktop as"Blackbox" under icewm and jwm options. Reports fluxbox correctly.
inxi -F
two finger scrolling working fine with the touchpad. no video issues with the HP laptop this time. brightness keys and volume keys working fine.

Also, the new auto-persistence file creation setup worked great. Although it no longer askes to change the password of the demo and root account. Is that intentional?

Is there a way to add items to the personal menu without using the"add menu item" app? edits to the personal menus in the .windowmanager directories are lost when the"update personal menu" script is run.

Could you check that remaster works and after if running persistence on the new remaster linuxfs file works. I'm not sure it does,
For systemd, at the moment, yes. We will see if we can get it to work with systemd.dolphin_oracle wrote:Also, the new auto-persistence file creation setup worked great. Although it no longer askes to change the password of the demo and root account. Is that intentional?

Copy the appropriate .desktop file to ~/.local/share/applications/TCM/
Change the"Categories" line to
"Categories=X-Personal;"
Save and reload personal menu
EDIT:
You can manually add it to the file in ~/.window manager.... but as you have found out it will remove that when the file is updated.
Perhaps with a rewrite for a better app to manage this... accomidation can be made to a manually edited section of the presonal menu.
