Just wondering if md5sum check was OK and cdburn was OK or is this a pendrive install? I just mention this because I use wpa2-psk at home and my test of wireless on 3 different Laptops with 3 different wireless chips don't exhibit the problems you are having. I use wicd though instead of ceni or rutilt for network manager.I've now installed the current antix full testing version on three machines (hp pavilion dm4-1265dx, eeepc 904ha, and sony pcgfxa32). Three different wireless chip sets, three different vintages of computer. all exhibit this same behavior.ok, I've eliminated the wireless access point and hooked directly to the router by wire. same behavior as I reported above. Frustrating, as I posted on this same machine from work.
topic title: antiX-12 series available for 'final' testing.

pendrive install in all cases by the by, on the old sony i used a plop floppy to boot usb. worked great. ill check the md5sums in the morning when i get back to work.
i get ip addresses in all cases. i just cant access the full range of websites. its not just wireless as the wired connection did the same thing.
i agree with you though that something is probably wrong with the install media. its the only common factor.

I had a similar issue a while back and it turned out it was some glitch on my ISP dns server. I was able to run my USB fine at work but it choked on some sites at home. A day later all was well.dolphin_oracle wrote:pendrive install in all cases by the by, on the old sony i used a plop floppy to boot usb. worked great. ill check the md5sums in the morning when i get back to work.

afab4...interesting. as my non-antix pc's work fine, I don't think its on the isp's end. but that is an excellent thought and I won't discount it. Thanks.

DHCP discovery on eth0 needs something done with. if you are using wireless, then boot just hangs until time out. My apologies if this has already been mentioned.

Upgrading ifupdown solves that issue.dolphin_oracle wrote:DHCP discovery on eth0 needs something done with. if you are using wireless, then boot just hangs until time out. My apologies if this has already been mentioned.

afab4, thanks for the word on that one. I rarely update antix once its working as things tend to break (dang debian testing!). That did fix my boot hang at dhcpdiscover issue.
Still dealing with whatever router issues I'm having. It has to be in my network setup. I pulled out a formally working previous antix-base test release install I had on the eeepc. No changes, received at IP address as usual, but I could not connect to what I'm calling subdomains (sports.yahoo.com the one I'm using for testing). I think its actually anything with a redirect. mail.google.com works, but not the mail portal for our company. Its crippling for computers at my house. I even disabled the wireless and plugged in direct to the router, and still no joy. All the gateway and dns settings match my windows machines, so I have no idea what's going on. And I can only test at night as everything works perfectly at work. Grrrrr.....
also, md5sums check out perfectly.

ok, posting now from a ubuntu live usb from home. absolutetly no problems. on the antix side, i've tried antix12 base and full, wicd and ceni, two different kernels (3.4 and 3.5) and three different computers. the info that ubuntu, antix, and windows, android, and ios all receive from the router is identical and correct. I'm stumped, and this is a major dissapointment for me as I've been a user for 6 years. I understand that there is something in the way my network is setup that antix doesn't like for some reason, but everything else I've tried works fine.
i'm going to pull an older antix setup and see if that will work.

This is maybe a long shot and some may even consider it sacrilege __{{emoticon}}__ ....but I made an antix USB earlier this year and I had problems accessing certain sites. (no they were not porn sites __{{emoticon}}__ ) I installed Chromium and everything worked fine running that browser instead of Iceweasel or Iceape.

d_o is this only an issue with the antiX test version you are using? Do/did earlier test versions work ok?

anti,
the earlier version worked until i got the new routers installed. it still works fine at the office, just doesn't work right at home.

just tried m8.5. same issues. To be safe I used a different computer to make the install media.
I may disable part of the home network and try to isolate the issue. But honestly, winxp, win7, ios, android, and now ubuntu deal with it fine. odd in the extreme.

is the netgear plugged into the cisco a router as well as the cisco itself?
how are they paired together?
can you ping the sub domains?
maybe try setting your dns to use another server such as 4.2.2.2,
it seems like it is somehow blocking cnames, but allowing a records to convert to ip addresses. could you test this by trying webmail dot daveserver dot info and then daveserver dot info. if it is the case the later should be the only one that works. if it is the redirect maybe your iceweasel settings are set to not allow redirecting without your permission, but the window is failing to display.

Dave, i tried you addresses. I could get to neither one. I can get to yahoo . com. I also can't access the repositories at Dave server or Debs.Slavino.
The net gears routing functions are disabled. All routing is being done by the Cisco/linksys e1200. I even removed the net gear all together last nite and went wired to the Cisco. Same issues. There is some problem between the Cisco and antix that other os don't seem to have. At least not the one's I've tried. I have not tried debian.
any suggestions are appreciated. Whatever it is, it goes back to antix 8.5 at least. The new piece is the e1200, so I will be researching that today. It's a very common router I think.
By the by, I call it the Cisco because that's it's network name. I think it's linksys branded.

edit. you should get a forbiden error from that address
also does attaching directly to the modem help?
