thriftee, you say nowhere to find help with SlackoPuppy, but Puppy fourm has plenty of topics dedicated to Slacko builds:

Do you mean no one is still using & discussing that exact older version that you're using?

@ponse
It's a discussion forum, not a graffiti chatwall.
Posting big yellow letters without providing any meaningful commentary is pointless.

Skidoo, I have problems like my Flash is too old to run. My solution was to upgrade the Slacko to by installing a new version, and twice I've done that, but I have't been able to get them installed and working, for example 6.3.0 the screen won't work under X windows (they have a special X configuration tool that doesn't work), and I've asked there a couple times and places for help to get it to work, but nobody has even tried to help. I mean I can't really complain, as it was all for free, and I know the effort it takes to make things work, but on the other side of the coin, I'm installing it to use every day and will be depending on it. I wish I could just fix it myself, LOL, and be done with it.

All I was trying to say was that I hadn't thought the issue of support in general out completely, and the bigger distros with more than one developer seem to sometimes have more support available. antiX would be a good example.

Anyway, an option would be just to give up on SlackoPup and install/run something else, like antiX.

I've also thought about Linux from Scratch, LFS. I looked at it at one point... LOL, I think they have a SystemD free version still. I'd like to learn more, but with working a lot now, I'm too brain dead after work to build my own OS I think.

AntiX is the number one distro - for people who want to get things done without a load of crap getting in the way. __{{emoticon}}__

What, no haiku poetry? Sigh. This thread sucks without haiku poetry...

Given they are free to download and try if we just have names of ones that are worth the time and effort to download and avoid ones that aren't its good enough. We could probably do without the personal attacks though, and maybe replace them with the pros and cons of the distro being discussed instead.

I respect your attempt to keep the peace, but early in the thread I invested considerable effort in compiling and sharing detailed info... and that effort isn't being reciprocated.
GuixSD is already listed at without-systemd.org (which I linked to, early on in the thread).
Criticizing the multiple unhelpful posts here amounted to"venting", not"personally attacking".

I cannot comment on personal experience though as I installed and Ran regular Slack0 on my EEEPC's when I sold them.
I sold one with Slack0 and one with Android on them.

I like Refracta 8.3 (based on Devuan Jessie, and with the XFce desktop) because it doesn't use up a lot of system resources, looks good and is also easier to set up and configure than"raw" Devuan.

It falls short compared to AntiX though, for (at least) one reason; I've never been able to get Flash to work on it, whereas Flash has always worked out of the box on AntiX.

"Make It Your Own" or Miyo linux, a stable Devuan based distro with Openbox using an auto menu schema, Tint2 with graphical configuration, Nitrogen, PCManFM, Firefox-esr, more of course, Oh and an Update manager from Point Linux and Refracta Installer, great fun @ half a gig

Alas, neither of those match the tools of MX or the exquisite Window Manager choice of AnitX, not to mention staying Sys-D free without Forking everything __{{emoticon}}__

I like both Refracta & MIYO - but I stick with AntiX, as I'm more used to it, & it hasn't ever let me down. __{{emoticon}}__
