Yep, but it used to be louder....
When I had xp on it, it was a lot louder than when I had debian.
I have been reading a bit about it, and it seems like there is something with alsa that does it?
Some are saying they are happier with oss... so I might try that.
I tried yesterday, but it said something about missing kernel module, or something.
BUT if I use the vlc player (where the volume slider goes to 200%), it is ok, so I am thinking there is some way to trick it to be louder?
Thanks anyway, I did have that issue when I started playing with linux stuff...several times __{{emoticon}}__

You could always try running alsaconf as root and see if that sorts the volume issue?

you could try the liquorix kernel and see how the sound is in it. also alsa 1.0.25 will be uploaded to sid, you could try that and see how it works for you.
my sound was also freaking loud on linux, to the point of distortion, and after 2.6.34 kernel there was an update to the hda-intel driver that make my sound unbelievable quiet like at 100% the sound was at the former level of 5-10%. after 3.6.39 the sound got louder again and i could update my kernel, but not at the level of my first experience with linux. in the 3.0 kernel my headphones stopped working, in 3.1 they were fixed. to cut to the conclusion without rambling to much, the most difficult sound driver in linux is hda-intel, so if you have that be content that it works, for some people it didn't work at all for several versions of the kernel.

You are right, it is the hda-intel thing...
I will try to run the alsaconf first.
Thanks!

I have the snd-hda-intel, it says...
Anyway, I ran the alsaconf, and all is well now.
It is pretty loud, and I won't ask for more out of these tiny netbook speakers.
At least now I can listen to music, without sitting in a soundproof box.
YAY!

Soo, this time I don't have a question...
Just thought I should post this anyway.
After trying lots of stuff, I have pretty much come"back" to a more or less standard antix base imitation.
It is core, with icewm, and a few other things.
I guess it says something about how nice antix is setup for us noobs! (err....me...)

Well, I GUESS that would be right, but I messed something up...
I could not get it to sit where I wanted it, and it wanted to sit on top of all the icons...
So, I ended up with this for now, I think the conky was by user harii

Hmm, I installed fvwm-crystal... and suddenly tunar, and rox automounted my sd cards, and usb...
I wonder if installing the wm also installed something that was missing in my icewm?
I am using a standard antix m11 full version...
Oh, and I quite like fvwm, btw __{{emoticon}}__

Well, I have a new little issue...
In fvvm, I tried using streamtuner, and set it up to use xmms to play music.
Anyway, it plays some stations just fine, but how do I turn it off???
I think I could turn it off with xmms, but for some reason, xmms opens"behind" my wallpaper?(I think)
(I am guessing that is the same as my earlier issue with conky showing the"wrong" background?)
Any ideas on how to make xmms show up on the"outside" of the wallpaper?
I believe it sits"behind", because I have to log out to stop the radio now, and xmms shows up for a moment...just when it shuts down??
Oh, btw, it works fine in icewm.

Ok, I have tried a few different ways, and I am not that good at it...
I would like to put an icon on the toolbar in fluxbox, to start mountbox.
I have tried adding it to the startup, and it will start, but my mouse gets wierd, and it is stuck inside the mountbox window?
I guess a"button" on the toolbar would be better, so I could launch it from there.
For some reason, I find myself using mountbox quite a lot...

You can't add it to the fluxbox toolbar.
Better to set up a key for it. eg Alt m for mountbox.

Hmm, ok...
I read on some fluxbox-forum, that I could, butthat might be old, or talking about some other toolbar, I guess.
It did say you could add it to the startup file, with a -w after.
I have to see if I can find it again.
Thanks anyway!
