Basically, you would install 'apt-spy' and run with the proper variables like or the explanation is at the end of the thread linked. Then, after if found the fastest servers, it creates another sources file that adds to the system ones, so you should comment (put a '#' sign in front of the line) the default ones (keeping 'alive' the ones apt-spy didn't search for, like the Mepis one, the multimedia one etc.). Then you also check the sources file apt-spy generated if you want 'contrib' and 'non-free' to be enabled (just uncomment that).

You find it in Synaptic.
It doesn't modify the sources.list, it creates another file (in /etc/apt) that the system reads too. That's why afterwards you must 'comment' the addresses in sources.list (less the ones that wont be replaced by the ones from apt-spy's list). In case you use it you'll find it's simple.

In the linux initialization lines at the beginning, I saw it started but I don't see it anywhere and i think it doesn't work because there is no Wifi connection possible.

Can you help me please ?

Pierre, I've got no WiFi but I think Ceni may take care of it too (I'm almost sure antiX base comes with it).

And can't you run it from the Terminal?
In the 8.2 test release, anti added a taskbar launcher for it. I'm not in antiX now but then I may boot in it later and check the command.

To start the tray icon: To start the GUI directly: If I remember well, there's no tray icon in Fluxbox so you run the last command.

there is tray icon in fluxbox, but the command secipolla suggested will work (from a terminal). You should see a window come up with available networks. However, you might still have to configure the preferences, etc, to make sure that your card is recognized (eth0, eth1, ath0, etc).

In my experience, wicd has worked very reliably. However, as secipolla also sugested ceni works pretty well. So, you might try that as well and see if it sees your card and your network.

Wicd runs as it is visible in the linux in Linux messages when starting and I am connected in ethernet by it.

It's clear that the wifi card driver is not recognized. A priori it's a eth0

In order to use ceni, should I install it, and would this installation desinstall wicd ?

In wifi, Wicd works much better than network manager, and I was satisfied about it.

I have other problems : I don't succeed in modifyint the time.

Another question : Fluxbox est really unpleasant, is it possible using for example Xfce ? If I did it, would it resolve my wicd icon problem ?

Did you try to run Wicd through the Terminal?
What happens when you try to set the clock through 'Set Clock' in the menu?
SummonKnight installed xfce and it seems he didn't succeed to auto-login in it but could choose it through 'F1' at the login screen. See this thread:

Wicd does start (there is an auto-loggin somewhere) and I suppose I'm connected in ethernet with it.

There are two problems : I dont't have neither icon on the desktop or elsewhere neither any wicd window and it doesn't say it tries to find the networks.

The wi-fi card light remains switched off.

Set clock : I tried it. I can't move the selected line.

To start Wicd tray icon, open Terminal and type to start the user interface directly, type If it doesn't work, try doing it as root type password and then the commands.

To move the lines (like from America to Europe) in 'Set Clock' the arrows should work, if they're not working either is a problem with the keyboard or with the installation.

Also open Ceni and see if it detects your WiFi.

And when setting the time-zone, to move to <ok> and <cancel> options just press the 'tab' key.

Also in Ceni you press 'tab' to move between options, 'enter' to confirm an option and 'esc' to exit an option.

I typed your command and I obtained the icon and then the screen. It detects the wire network (ethernet), not wifi networks. It says it finds no wifi network. I guess there is a driver pb ?

When I close the terminal, The icon disappears. How can I make it remain permanently ?
