Here are the latest iso builds of antiX, that, hopefully have squashed the bugs from the previous iso.

Biggest change is that xorg has bben upgraded.
New applications include

* pyneighborhood
* gvfs-fuse
* prism2-usb-firmware-installer
* speedcrunch
* toshset
* cdw

* cli-installer is in English, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch and Portuguese (BR). (Thanks to the translators).
* Fixed reboot/halt and ejectcd in live mode. You will be prompted to remove the cd/dvd and close the tray, and shutdown will then continue.
* fixed broken links in bookmarks
* updated antiX-FAQ included.

antiX-base sees usbmount removed and replaced with a udev rules set up that auto-mounts usb devices in Rox under /media.
It should work in live mode and on install as your user password should replace the demo live default.

Please test asap.

anti, I'm a little slow on the uptake, but is gvfs-fuse what allows network browsing?

Downloaded I686 Full Iso and md5sumed and burned with xfburn at 2x speed. Booted up on my IBM M41 Wireless Desktop. Edit: Connected Wireless RTL8187B USB with Wicd as usual.

Just booted up so no testing done yet. Just wanted to see if CD disk turned out ok. I will be moving on to my Panasonic Laptop with this CD as I did have problems with ipw2200 with the rc1 I installed on it. I got it working though. Just want to see if maybe this version does better.

I have Beta 2 installed on this IBM Desktop with Liqourix and running Sid. So I am on the fence over blowing away the Beta Partition on this unit yet. __{{emoticon}}__

So far so good running live though on this Desktop. __{{emoticon}}__

2nd edit. Same snafu as always trying to open rox with run as root from menu. From root terminal rox opens ok. I wanted to see if all the partitions I have would mount and show in rox (as root user) running live. Bitchin Kitchen here.

Ice reminded me. Clock picked up local time OK also. Thunar opens OK. Tested sound with Pardus Rocks in /usr/share/sound file with gxine in thunar. Sound and gxine works. Tested geeqie and opened images ok in root file system under /usr/share/piximaps also/

In case you make yet another ISO, maybe you'll like to replace absvolume with

in IceWM.
I use it here (in openbox+tint2 but it should work pretty well in IceWM too) and it's quite good.

Thanks, secipolla.

Looks like volumeicon as it pulls in less dependencies.

Booted up on Panasonic CF-48 today. Tap on mousepad works. I had to use enable dbm in wicd to get connection to stick on wireless (had to do the same with rc1 iso). Without dbm enabled. Wicd connects then drops out a couple seconds later. Not sure if driver or wicd is at fault. Only happens on this laptop. Running Live for now. Gotta go to the store for groceries. So will take my time on this install later I hope. Gonna post info I think is relevant as usual.

Thunar opens as root using Gexec/run from menu. Yay. /var/boot below.

Checked sound with /usr/share/sound/pardus rocks with qmmp this time. Sound works. I guess ndisgtk is now in the menu from what I see. Should make the ndiswrapper users happy.

Gotta throw one irrelevant statement in post as always. Us southern boys are like that.

Just finished installing, quick huh __{{emoticon}}__ . Wicd saved my settings from running live. Was connected the second I enabled wicd. Edited Fluxbox and Icewm startup to start wicd automagically.

Installed grub to root. Used grub4dos in Lighthouse Puppy Linux to add AntiX to menu.lst in grub4dos. Worked great. Later I will smxi to see what happens again with liqourix kernel upgrade (I always got a ext2 file system error last time with rc1 on this laptop).

All in all Install was painless and quick.

Not sure TBH. I have removed it as it appears not to be needed.

Before I go to store. I edited /etc/fstab so as to mount my Windows (hda1), Lighthouse Puppy Linux (hda6), and Fat32 Partition which holds old /home which I backed up to pull stuff off of (hda7). Rebooted and dragged partitions from /mnt over to thunars sidebar. Be sure to backup original /etc/fstab before editing original as a safety precaution.

My /etc/fstab

Code: Select all

# Pluggable devices are handled by uDev, they are not in fstab
/dev/hda3 / ext3 defaults,noatime 1 1
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0622 0 0
/dev/hda4 /home ext3 defaults,noatime 1 2
# Dynamic entries below
/dev/hda1 /mnt/hda1 ntfs-3g auto,users,gid=users,dmask=002,fmask=113,relatime 0 0
/dev/hda5 swap swap sw,pri=1 0 0
/dev/hda6 /mnt/hda6 ext3 auto,users,exec,relatime 0 0
/dev/hda7 /mnt/hda7 vfat auto,users,gid=users,dmask=002,fmask=113,relatime 0 0

Tested on P200MMX, 128 M ram, with USB pci card.
-antiX-M11-core-squeeze-486 (Mar31/11)
-antiX-M11-base-486 (Apr12/11)
-antiX-M11-486 (Apr12/11) full version

Confirming that 128 M ram is sufficient to do a lot.
Thunar automounts when USB flash drive plugged in.
Conky shows low 30's of ram usage (of 128) on startup of rox-icewm or rox-fluxbox in full version.
Of course got improved performance on K6 with 400 MHz cpu.
All worked fine, 'tho this is very limited testing.
Still find I need to use gparted to activate the swap made by cfdisk.

I noticed cclive did not get included in menu in Icewm or Fluxbox Anti.
