Cleaned up menu and toolbar to the way I like it for showing rox and thunar in Icewm.
Code: Select all
prog"File Manager" /usr/share/icons/Buuf-Deuce/128x128/apps/Thunar.png thunar
prog"RoxFM" /usr/share/pixmaps/roxfiler.png rox

Praises for the antiX FAQ
but minor typos
**********************************
under: 4. IceWM: Basic Customization
How do I change the menu and the toolbar?
You can do it the same way you did with Preferences, or you can use installed application IceMC via Menu--Desktop--IceWM--> Edit Menu (manual)
and: 3. IceWM: Basic Operation3. IceWM: Basic Operation
After Installing new programs how do I find them and how do I get them on the menu?
1. Menu --> Desktop --> IceWM --> Update Menu (Auto) .........................
2. Menu --> Desktop --> IceWM --> Edit Menu (Manual) This will bring up the application IceMC. It is a graphical menu editor for IceWM ..............
The option Edit Menu (manual) is not there now.
******************************
Looked, but didn't info info on 'add .desktop File', at Menu -->Tools -->System. This one's for manual adding to the menu?
Same with 'iBus Preferences', at Menu -->Applications -->Preferences.
" ibus - Intelligent Input Bus for Linux"
What are they for? Why on the menu?

2. Conky: Basic Configuration
How do I set it up?
............ Open ~/.conkyrc in a text editor or antiX CC --> System --> Edit System Monitor (Conky)
also
4. Conky: Basic Customization
How do I change Conky's look or information?
..............Open antiX CC --> System --> Edit System Monitor (Conky). This will bring up a text editor with your default .conkyrc script.
System Edit Monitor has moved to antiX CC --> Desktop

3. How do you use smxi?
smxi is already installed in antiX-M8.5 ....................
-change to or add reference to antiX-M11.

So far so good...I'm liking it. Very quick and snappy. Using IceWM as opposed to my usual fluxbox.

got it installed on the"old sony" now. Using the Icewm desktop. The old sony has multiple internal paritions, and thunar doesn't mount any except the root parition. The partitions show up in /mnt, but I had to change the entries in fstab to"auto" from noauto for thunar to mount them. No problem with rox.
One parition was a vfat data parition, and the other was a ext3 parition with a previous antix on it.
system run greats. tapping on touchpad is on, as well as touchpad vertical scrolling.
inxi -F for the old sony.

Finally had a chance to burn and test the newest full ISO this morning.
This is the first antiX that I have been unable to boot to graphics out of the box.
In previous M11 ISO's, I use the xorg cheat with vga=791 for my resolution.
No matter what I try no graphics will load.
Logging in as root and running startX from the command line it tells me there is no NV driver available to load.
Also while booting, it tells me no xorg.conf is being loaded.
Guess I will fish the old ISO out of the trash can. It worked OK for me.

Just to follow up on afab4's comment, I also tested the new iso (686) in a desktop and the livecd was unable to boot unless I used the x-org cheat option. None of the other fluxbox or icewm options worked. After I installed it, the other options worked. This is a different from previous versions of antix (I mean previous to M11) where the livecd has worked consistently with the fluxbox and/or icewm options. Don't really know what the difference is.

Dropped back in and got the fresh base 686 iso of 12 April - we'll be needing aptosid style iso names soon with month day and minute . . . . Anyway the good news seems to be as below - looks like I can own my media loaded live via usb. Live seesion.
demo@antiX1:~$ ls -al /aufs/media/
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 80 Apr 17 08:49 .
drwxr-xr-x 29 root root 240 Apr 17 08:47 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 40 Apr 17 08:48 cdrom
------s--T 1 root root 0 May 18 2007 .hal-mtab-lock
drwxrwx--- 14 demo users 16384 Dec 31 1969 HP_PAVILION
Unclear on why this event took place in 1969, man had just been to the moon, and I started wearing long pants.
Thanks for revisions. Testing, looks like a download is OK to attached media.

pedro, antiX-M11 uses isolinux to boot live.
Default is quiet nosplash noxorg
vga=xxx is not set.
maybe try vga=normal or vga=788

Thanks anti. Setting the vga to 791 made it boot normally.
It's likely that i missed this information, but it was not readily apparent from the isolinux screen or the help keys.
I think it might be useful to make it clearer that these options have to set now (unless you pick the xorg-cheats option) so that it won't look like livecd does not work.

Maybe afab4 has the same issue.
