You may want to install antiX-M11-pt2-686 from here:

Yeah, I did not install anything except GRUB2.

Oh, it's more than 600MB so I need 6-7 hours to download that. I'll do it tonight before going to bed __{{emoticon}}__
Or perhaps I'll wait until the final release!
Yes, my connection is so slow.

Ok, while it is downloading, try this.

apt-get clean
apt-get update
apt-get install apt apt-utils debian-archive-keyring synaptic

I already formatted and I'm installing antiX 8.5 again.

Shall I try the above commands after the installation is done? or ignore that for now?

Ignore.

Once installed, remove the goggles repo from /etc/apt/sources.list and do an apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade to see if you get those errors.

I think it's a network/internet connection temporary failure.

I'm getting DONE sometimes and some other times I'm getting the above error.

Do you think it's fixed and nothing to worry about anymore?

Oh yeah, it's getting BETTER __{{emoticon}}__

Thanks a million __{{emoticon}}__

I'll report back in case I'll face some other problems but I really hope nothing wrong will happen. How many times do I have to format and install? __{{emoticon}}__ just kidding __{{emoticon}}__

I have two little issues:

a) numlockx is installed by default but it does not work. I have to press"Num Lock" manually after each time I login.

b) Even after I install xscreensaver, it does not work out of the box, I have to do it manually every time I login.

Is there a screensaver?

Yes, it defaults to a black screen, with or without locking. Alternatively, use the lock option in Exit. If you want you can add xscreensaver from synaptic, or of course the CLI.
Even though I left my PC on for hours, NOTHING happened. The screen was still as the same as I left it.

Code: Select all

W: GPG error: http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 07DC563D1F41B907 Christian Marillat <marillat@debian.org>
I'm still getting the same error :S
I changed the server from"de" to"fr" but did not work. I changed it to"us" which was the default option but also did not work and got this:

Code: Select all

W: GPG error: http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 07DC563D1F41B907 Christian Marillat <marillat@debian.org>
W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/non-free/binary-i386/Packages.bz2 Hash Sum mismatch

E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Are there more servers to try beside"de, fr and us"?
In Ubuntu, I can choose the best server for me but I can't find this in antiX. I guess it could be done manually.

Guys, if this has anything to do with the new release, then I could wait but that means I can NOT install any package until then. I'm currently testing many Linux Distributions. If this problem can't be fixed, then I have to format and install another OS. However, I still want to keep trying until I fix it.

Sorry for causing too much headache.

I don't understand why this is happening. No-one else has had the problem so I'm guessing that there is some sort of bad burn even though you were able to install.

Maybe it would be best to wait for the newer version to download.

I'm going to burn a new CD now, let's see how much difference that would make __{{emoticon}}__

So perhaps the numlockx and the screen saver issues are because of the"bad burn".
Maybe it would be best to wait for the newer version to download.
When exactly that will be ready?

I prefer to wait until it's 100% ready because I don't want to download twice. I prefer to download the final version __{{emoticon}}__

Not sure what to do? I might burn a new CD with a lower burning speed or just wait until the final release of the new version. All depends on my time. Never mind __{{emoticon}}__

Thanks a lot __{{emoticon}}__

Yeah, we're so close to final - and Debian Squeeze will go stable this weekend. Wait until late weekend or some time next week, or wait until the antiX release, then grab it, download, burn at no higher than 4x - 6x; I've never had a problem at those speeds.

For what it's worth, in the USA, I use the debian.lcs.mit.edu mirror at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) in Cambridge, MA. With Comcast as my broadband provider having network links topologically close to that site, I always do really well with it. Also, just for the sake of information, when I do use Ubuntu derivatives, I switch to the Boston University Ubuntu mirror site and it is massively faster than the main Ubuntu mirror. If you are anywhere near the East Coast, those sites both do really well for downloading packages - MIT for any Debian based stuff, BU for any Ubuntu based stuff.
