Sounds like you were hav'n a good time.
You're eyes were affected by the liquor,
yet mine are affected by a video card __{{emoticon}}__ :
Trident Microsystems TGUI 9660/938x/968x
antiX don't seem to like this card, I've connected
the system to three different CRT's and 2 are
blurry and one seems to think I have dual monitors.
I am however able to get good resolution from a flat screen
with the xres or video code when I update the menu.lst
file for the first GRUB option. I place the value at
end of the Kernel string.
Normally the value is for 1024x768 or 800x600.
I'll have to connect the box to the flat panel and test
your suggestions. I must admit that inxi command
was VERY USEFUL.
Currently the box runs great in init 3.
Thanks for the help ... I'll post my findings soon.
NOTE: I've already done the apt-get update
I'll make sure to do your suggestions in GUI (init 5)

Greetings rokytnji,
I did a cat /dev/psaux and nothing happened ... Ctrl c ... took care of that.
I ran the:
apt-cache policy hwinfo
apt-get install hwinfo
hwinfo
All ran successfully.
The hwinfo truly amazing and very granular in its explanations.
What do you want me to pull or grep?
From what I could see there's 4659 lines in total.
HOWEVER, at the ending of the dump I could paste:

I see it in other posts in Ubuntu forums but the readout is for laptops, which use a touchpad.
Unfortunately you got the biker instead of a coder to help you with this. In anticx control center>Hardware>Con figure mouse. Mine looks like so
Most of the complaints I get searching in google with search term

I'm wondering about that line for keyboard and mouse in your above readouts. Especially the need=no part.Model:"PS/2 Controller"

rokytnji, I fully agree with your concern in regards an laptop's touchpad.
Take a look at my Posted: Sat Mar 24, 2012 5:57 am
I noticed many entries that made me think that this antiX install thinks
this desktop is actually a laptop.
BTW: You being a biker is a cool thing and thus far you're the only one
giving great assistance. If your other guru's want to get involved, great.
---
I'll take a look at the antiX CC to see if my mouse settings are similar to yours.
I've checked this in the beginning and bypassed it because no options were
present to change or select a mouse ... and ... I thought it useless to set
settings that would not stick to a mouse that isn't recognized (that was a mouthful).
If you need me to post more of the hwinfo file let me know.
Also what do you think of my issue with the Trident Microsystems TGUI 9660/938x/968x

Since you mentioned Puppy works for you. I run on another hardrive on my Amrel RT 786EX Laptop, 1.6ghz processor, 512mb ram, 3gig hardrive (Hot swap Hardrive capable) which also runs AntiX 8.5 core iso on another hardrive with latest Anti's I486 3.0 available kernels.

Great rokytnji,
I'll try your suggestions.
HOWEVER, Puppy Linux doesn't get the HP PS/2 Optical wheeled mouse to work either.
What I had success with was DSL4410 and Windows 98SE, and I definitely
don't want Win98SE on this box at all.
When I get to the box I'll give your suggestions a try.
Would the apt-get dist-upgrade mess up the antiX install?
Truly, antiX has better features and is more up to date than other distributions,
especially in init 3
Thanks again ... I'll follow up with you soon.

First I would get things working before attempting that. Read about what is to be removed before saying yes to a dist-upgrade. 5 or less items is fine. I chicken out when it says it will remove more than 5 packages or I will write down what is to be removed in case I need to re-install what was removed later. A site I like to check before a dist-upgrade isWould the apt-get dist-upgrade mess up the antiX install?

Greetings rokytnji ,
I ran inxi -F and the following was found:
Graphics: Card:Trident Microsystems TGUI 9660/938x/968x bus-ID:00:08.0 X.org1.9.5 Res:77x24 Gfx Data:N/A for root
---
My xorg.conf looks much like the thread you left,
It has touchpad entries.
This is strange that my box is installed as a laptop...
Is there a way for me to simply remake the xorg.conf while the system is up?
As always thanks for your help

Hello,
I think you should try with other PS2 mouse and keyboards.
I had the same problem with a Dell Optiplex GX1 in 2008 -- the Caps Lock, Scroll and Num LEDs on the keyboard started blinking and the system froze. It did this with all the Linux OSes of that time and a particular keyboard I had, and only worked with the original Dell AT101W keyboard.
I concluded it was a problem with the newer kernel/drivers -- because it worked with older distros like Puppy 2.14, and also worked with FreeBSD and win. DSL also has an old kernel.
So the simplest solution whould be to change the keyboard (I think the keyboard is the problem) and mouse, because in general antix runs flawlessly on older hardware in GUI mode. I tested today on that PC and antix M11 runs perfectly with the AT101 keyboard.

Greetings Eugenn,
I thank you for your suggestion.
I plugged in another AT keyboard and found the same outcome: HP PS/2 Optical Mouse doesn't work.
The AT Keyboard worked without a problem.
I like your suggestion ... however ... is there a way to reset or redo the configuration.
If this can be done then I could allow antiX to recreate the xorg.conf that reflects
this box is actually a laptop in relations to the mouse = touchpad.

I have not been following, is this a laptop or desktop? Have you checked your bios? some are funny about ps2 mice enabled / disabled which windows seems to ignore ... and if its a laptop my old Fujitsu acts really screwed up if I boot with a mouse plugged in, sometimes it will detect both the mouse and put the touchpad in absolute mode which when you move the mouse it just jumps back to center, and sometimes it sees both causing a mess, sometimes it wont see the external mouse at all unless I plug it in after the system has come up (which defies PS/2 mouse logic) ... this is in various OS's btw

to build a basic xorg.conf that will reflect your system, you will need to be in init 3 and without a xserver running.
Once in init 3 make a backup of your current xorg.conf by running
cp /etc/x11/xorg.conf /etc/x11/xorg.conf.bk
then run
X -configure
once complete run
cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/x11/xorg.conf
then change to init 5, startx, or reboot
Your new xorg.conf should better reflect your system. If it is of no benefit, simply replace the new one with your backup
cp /etc/x11/xorg.conf.bk /etc/x11/xorg.conf

Greetings Osgeld and Dave,
I thank you both for your help.
I'm not near the box currently and I'm taking care of major tasks.
HOWEVER once, I get in I will try both of your suggestions.

I'll check the BIOS again when I get to the box.
Please take a look at my Posted: Tue Mar 27, 2012 9:54 am
