thanks for the suggestion, but it did not fix the problem for me.
For now, every time I reboot I have to go into the directory where I stored the wl module and type

#modprobe lib80211
#insmod wl.ko

and kickstart wireless with ifup/ifdown. It's kind of a bother, but I can live with it.

HI Anti:
Thanks for the link. I had beeen following the instructions from broadcom (in the README.txt) and those had not make the module persist. I did add the lines to /etc/profile and had high hopes for that working, but no, still had to load it manually. It's just an annoyance at this point.

As an aside, I seemed to have hosed up the mepis 6.27 kernel. Does halevt conflict with that kernel? I get a lot of error messages and then the slim log in window but it's dead, can't type and can't even drop to cli. Not a big concern since I have the other 2 liquorix kernels and a debian kernel that work. Just curious.

thanks

I'm surprised that the kernel even boots as udev insisted on a kernel of 2.6.32 when I tried it last.

How did you fix the usb issue?

Also what about adding the lines to /etc/rc.local or maybe write a simple script?

Anti,
thanks for the suggestions. I chose the script way and it works. Also, my usb sticks are being picked up, so success in both those counts.

Today I noticed a different problem though. My usb mouse is NOT being picked up. It's been working fine all this time (and yes I changed batteries!). I had not noticed it because I had been using the touchpad without hooking up the mouse.

Is this another udev problem? Any suggestions?

thanks.

The Debian 2.6.32-5 kernel (but not a liquorix one) will pickup my USB mouse, and I can still pickup my usb sticks and get the wireless to connect. So I guess I'll stick with this kernel for now, and consider this closed.

thanks.
