I have been working on a script (with help from Adrian) to upgrade the antiX specific side (ie non-debian stuff). I called the script antiX-upgrader (original eh?). You can get it from here:

This script should upgrade antiX-M7.2 (full) to antiX-M7.5-test3.

What gets upgraded?

*New controlcentre.
*The best icewm OOTB set up in the world of linux!
*Latest smxi script.
*Updated fluxbox menu (minor changes)
*New slim.conf so there are more choices of desktop environments to login to.
*Revised .xinitrc to cater for changes in slim login manager.
*New boot menu grafix. (optional)

What gets removed?

*The old config-centre /usr/local/bin
*.xinitrc replaced ~/.
*slim.conf replaced /etc/
*mepis-network.sh replaced /etc/init.d
*original boot menu grafix (optional)

So if you want to keep your old config, make a back up of /usr/local/bin

What gets backed up?

* User fluxbox startup and menu
* All files in User icewm folder

So, if you wish to try out this script, back up important data just in case! My tests show it to be safe, but YMMV. Do not test on a box that has critical files!

What do I do?

1. Download to user folder the antiX-upgrader script from the website link above.
2. Make the file executable through rox-filer
3. Open a terminal as USER , type ./antiX-upgrader
4. You will be prompted to give root password to run the script.
5. Follow instructions. (There aren't many)
6. Once script has completed, you should have all the antiX upgrades and then use apt-get or synaptic for the debian apps upgrade.

Actually, there isn't much change from test2-test3.

The changes are/will be:

* unrar-free installed
* icewm ->fluxbox fixed
* background folder bug (slim) fixed
* icon in /home fixed
* apps upgraded

All the above are easy to fix by hand, so no need for you to use the script. __{{emoticon}}__

The script is really for those with antiX-M7.2 or even antiX-M7.5-test1 to upgrade at the moment. Other upgrade paths from Lysistrata (7/7.01) to 7.5 will be (hopefully) included later in the script.

For example, if you want to try the script to upgrade from Lysistrata, you will have to, before running the script,

mkdir /usr/local and
mkdir /usr/local/bin

You will also need to check that there is in fact an icewm folder in ~/.
Even then, not all the features of the control centre will work (most do). This is what I am working on.

"unrar-nonfree" works now with xarchive. anti watch out for a conflict or something.

I'm running antiX with sid repos and there is no unrar-nonfree.
Maybe it is being kicked to touch in the future?

Ok, the script worked good. The only issue so far is that my install of pcmanfm broke. I had the deb so I went to reinstall it and it complained about desktop-utils or something. apt-get -f install fixed it.

Next I have to add back to the fluxbox menu everything I had before. good thing I backed up the old one.

The control center works good. I rebooted and saw the new boot screen, also good. I will have to switch over to icewm to check it out.

Look for unrar or unrar-free not unrar-nonfree. unrar is actually nonfree and this is why there is unrar-free.

Your making this too easy for us!

I would like to suggest a package to maybe make final if there is one. System-config-printer. This will replace gnome-cups-manager and I think has less dependencies. It allows you to install a printer locally or network attached and allows you to change print settings on the fly when you print. I use this all the time now and I have access to two printers, an hp on my desktop and a epson on my wifes windows box. system-config-printers allows me to set the hub size and outside diameter for cd/dvd printing. It's alot more flexible that gnome-cups-manager.
