antiX alpha 2 net images 'stretch' versions available

As before - the blurb -

Want to build up from the bare minimum to create your own personalised antiX Debian systemd-free install?

Then, try our net.iso install images.

Available for 32 and 64 bit processors for Debian stretch.(Note that since Stretch is a moving target so libsystemd0 might get installed)

Images are just over 150MB.

What's on the iso?

* New! 4.9.6 custom antiX kernel and headers (not libre)
* cli-installer
* antiX live system and persistence
* cli remastering
* live-kernel-updater
* live-usb-maker
* nano for editing
* rsync
* eudev - let me know how well this works
* sysvinit as init default. No systemd or libsystemd0
* gettext-base, lockfile-progs, xz-utils, (bugfix)
* console-date and lsb-release will get installed during the installation stage (bugfix)
* libudev1 and libudev-dev to avoid dependency issues after installation since we ship with eudev

Get them here:

====================================
'''Stretch'''

These images are offered to experienced Debian users since the cli-installer assumes that users have some knowledge of Linux.

On first boot, follow the instructions to login as root and start the cli-installer.

Make sure you have an Internet connection before running the installer and you know the partition you want to install onto eg sdb2.

You MUST say 'Yes' to the 'Are you using a net install? question and you must install grub to the MBR.

At the moment UEFI install is not supported.

Now to make a iso, make s USB stick and see if the Dell D630 can handle it.

Let us know how it goes, hopefully the bugs found by d_o in his videos have been fixed.

Note the modesetting you had an issue with in one of your posts though.

So far everything is going good. Making the iso now.
I hope this version works on the D630.
resetting for anyone blew out and sent me back to login.
Now trying the save my settings part.

EDIT
Figured out that when it gets done, again, it threw me back to login.

Unetbootin when asking for the overwrite, cause the computer to fall back to the login .
Transfered the iso's to a Windows machine and used Rufus to make the USB stick.

Boot this old Dell D630 with the stick, select Chicago, and did a normal boot, took about a minute and a half to get to the login and about 2 minutes to get to the desktop.
wicd can not find my wireless , so plugged in the cat 5, and got here.Yes the right broadcom driver is in place.
When I wun inxi -F there is a pause and I have added what inxi --recommends suggested . Will double check that.

Boot the desktop using the stick, it hung for while on configuring network interfaces. About a minute.
Logged in and wicd asked for a password. Surprised me as this has never had a wireless card in it. But root worked.

Terminal and Firefox are open.
EDIT It asked for the password and hung up on configuring network interfaces each of the 3 times I booted to the non-persistant stick.

Just in case shay for the broadcom.

Might have to run this in root terminal

Code: Select all

dmesg | grep firmware

Shay - didn't you mention in a previous post that modesetting was causing you issues?

Also, for networking, try this in /etc/network/iterfaces

# interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

Yes, I did have problems with it, which we could not fix. This time it has not shown up. THANKS for the fix.

Got some thing to take care of, then try what is posted. Think I will do a mininstall to the D630.

You will have to install the firmware for it.

b43-fwcutter or firmware-b43-installer?

That did the trick.
Wicd after adding the wlan0 , refreshed , my router showed up and for the first time, it logged into channel 36.

Still slow during bootup. With several black screens.
minstall showed a couple errors but installer opened.
