I did the same thing. word for word. After dealing with half of the membership of right wing crazies over at murga now.

They might make a good distro and even have a great mission statement.
But if find that most of the members there are meaner than a bag of feral cats.
Life is too short to hang with haters and shunners.
I heard the word no there a lot in threads there.

So I walked away from Murga for some piece of mind. Drama is boring when one is trying to have some fun in life. Or online.

As far as your other points like default applications and stuff. I am a different user than most. One thing I learned. You cannot keep all users happy.
Just the nature of the beast.

Still having problems installing to Thinkpad x60t:

I've also tried it with AntiX Alpha 3. I've installed from DVD, USB, and installed it on a Hard Drive on another computer and then moved the hard drive back into the x60t. Did Boot Repair from MX-16 tools. Nothing seems to get AntiX 17 running ...

The freeze is at the almost blank screen except"_" in top left corner I think is right before x-windows starts.

I don't know, but It might be something with how the"hardware specific video module""i915" KMS video module is installing?

I'm not sure what changed between AntiX 16.1 / MX-16 and Antix 17ax with the integrated Intel graphics but this 32-bit laptop won't boot into X-Windows (but the earlier ATI ones work fine out-of-the-box).

Is there an option to set in the install that can try to get it working?

Have you read up on how to use the F keys to use boot cheat codes for graphics issues. On a live session before running the installer?

I did try a fail safe (which failed), can't remember if I did specific resolution modesetting or not, but I'll try some other options next time...

Did you see in my post that it's nearly the same hardware especially the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 on the thinkpad t60 (2007) .I could install and boot into the installation without any special modulation.
Reallly have no idea whats going wrong with your installation, but I think its not the graphic part.

Yeah, I know it's really weird, I see it's a very similar graphics card, but what else would prevent x-windows from starting?

I've used the same Hard Drive with Antix17 installed on it and it works in T43p and a T60p both work no problem but they have ATI Radeons. (Even when I had the install problem with MX on the Thinkpad x301 because of the Optical Drive not working with Debian, I could still install USB or swap in the Hard Drive from it installed from another computer.)

The x60t only goes to the Grub screen absolutely no problem then tries to boot and freezes on the transition from the text screen to x-windows.

I just tried to boot iso again, and did the FN to choose the Video -> ask -> scan, and it doesn't even show a 1400x1050 option (my T60p which has the same resolution but ATI GPU does), but same result blanks out with"_" on screen.

It might not be GPU but what else? Maybe the"slim" for x-windows?

It shouldn't be the hardware itself being defective since AntiX 16.1 works, MX-16 works, and Linux Lite 3.4 (Ubuntu 16.04) also works. Something changed from Debian 8 AntiX and Debian 9, if not graphics and if even Fail Safe won't do it, what else? Like I said, weird.

I also tried Safe Video Mode, now this was at least different as the bottom of the screen has some unmoving static and the top of the screen is blank, but it freezes here too right before x-windows ... but if you wait a really long time (I went away to do something else, got distracted, and lost track of the time) it eventually boot as 1024x768@0.00Hz, upon reboot same thing takes over 4 minutes (!) to clear by the static and goes to 1024x768. So it seems like the 1400x1050 isn't being properly detected. (This is with Alpha 3, btw).

FWIW, xrandr gives"size 1400x1050 not found in available modes" and"failed to get size of gamma for output default". I edited the /etc/x11/org.conf to add a"1400x1050" option but that didn't help either.

Still weird but at least it boots now if not at the right resolution.

P.S. x61t (2008) also has i915 but a slighter newer version still has this problem (it's 64-bit computer so I won't be running AntiX17x32 on it but just thought I'd check, so it looks like an x-series problem that the T-series Thinkpads don't have (ATI from T43p and NVidea from T61p don't have the issue, I just iso checked that too).
