antiX-13-beta2-pt1 full isos available for testing in 32 and 64 bit. (c695MB)

*3.6.11 antiX kernel for 32 bit
*3.7.10 antiX kernel for 64 bit
*3.8.4 antiX kernel available in the repository for those who want/need a more up to date version.
*dist-upgrade to 24 March 2013

Most work since beta1 has focussed on customising the live boot menu to include a whole range of
boot options via Fn keys. Chosen boot parameters can be customised and saved on writable media.

*The versions of applications shipped come from the Debian Testing/Wheezy repo.
*Latest iceweasel browser version available via the meta-package installer.
*Default window manager is IceWM with a Rox desktop. Fluxbox, JWM, wmii and dwm are available.
*Latest SpaceFM and udevil.
*usb devices set to automount (default). Easily changed.

guess I'll find out dark--d __{{emoticon}}__ . I am downloading it now on my eeepc 900. I already made some
backups of what I wanna keep from AntiX 11 install on here to a 8gig pendrive.

Unetbootin, here I come.

spoke too soon.

Code: Select all

harry@Biker:/mnt/sdb1/home/harry/Antix$ md5sum antiX-13-beta2-pt1_386-full.iso
139e8faa8d0473de1cb878c5b31ae351 antiX-13-beta2-pt1_386-full.iso
but the md5sum dowload file says.
f0cca19807334be7dba844b45027f6ca antiX-13-beta2-pt1_386-full.iso ?

Went ahead and installed to usb with unetbootin even though md5sum mismatch.
Booted OK and everything seems to work, (running live), though no install will be done
till I find out why md5sum mismatch.

Either md5sum wrong on my end (bad download) or bad text file?

@dark-d. RC post about iceweasel is right on the button.

antix2usb gui is not fixed yet, but new_usb.sh works fine.

Maybe it is busy
Yeah, unetbootin does its own thing and creates its own menu.

Can the"check" boot code still be typed in when using unetbootin?

I have a couple of small issues, after upgrading the system from 13 to 13 full.

The system is not reading SD cards, I tried a new card, and one from my camera. SpaceFM shows the card readers with"no media" I still need to check the card reader for a physical problem like dust, but the light comes on when the card is plugged in.

The next issue is not a big one.. In the Antix control center"Choose Wallpaper" button don't work.
I can still set my wallpaper by right clicking a picture file.

Other than the two little issues everything runs great.

I guess my next step would be backing-up all my personal files, then doing a clean install.

That is the best way since new config files in home will almost certainly conflict with the newer versions.
The wallpaper issue you have is probably down to this.

As for the first, do you get any error messages? (open rox or spacefm in a terminal)

What does dmesg say after you plug the card in? For example do a"dmesg | tail -n 50" and note the last few lines then plug the card in and do"dmesg | tail -n 50" again. When I try that here with a usb stick I get:
