I did not find foxit reader in debian testing. Downloaded from

Mupdf is nice, but I can't select page numbers. Same for Zathura. Epdfview and Atril has page selection, page preview and search text function.

To select page numbers in mupdf, open the pdf file, type the page you want and the letter g.

For example 54g

You have to set the correcr dpi for your screen.

In rox filer, Set Run Action

change mupdf to mupdf -r 96 (or whatever) the Default without -r is 72.

Ok, then jump to page (pagenum + 'g') and search ( '/' ) works in mupdf.

You're right its not in the Debian repo. When I saw it in apt-cache show I mistakenly assumed I had got from the repo. Your post has jogged my recall. I also downloaded it direct from Foxit. I have corrected my previous post.

I have used it with various OSs over the years and have never experienced it crashing. It has been running flawlessly in antiX-12 since its inception. It also runs in TinyCore without an issue. Perhaps you obtained a corrupted download.

I typically use the cli-installer. It has been a long time since using minstall but I decided to use the gui installer to see if there were any unneeded services I could disable. I use my sda2 partition using ext3 with no seperate home partition.
I selected those parameters. I DID NOT check the box asking me if I wanted to save the home directory. The pop up box asked me if it was OK to format the partiton and I said yes. The partition was formatted and the installation continued.
All went well. I didn't find any services I wanted to stop. I selected my locales, time zone etc.
I put in my user name, passwords and clicked continue. NOW a box pops up and tells me the"home" directory already exists and asks me if I want to re-use it.
I am thinking how can this be if I just formatted the partiton?
I used Rox to see if the original home directory really exists on my sda2 partition. It does.
I am skeptical but decide to re-use the home directory.
I reboot into the new installation and the home directory is there and my desktop is just as I had it set up in my previous installation.
Some of the applications I had installed in my previous installation work fine eg: libreoffice, and some have to be reinstalled before they function. I had added cpulimit to / etc/init.d and it is there along with the / usr/bin/cpulimit.sh script from my previous installation.
My question...Is this a feature or a bug? i can't figure out how the home directory is being saved if the sda2 partition was really formatted during the installation.
This is using 64 bit. I did the installation twice with the same result.
I will try another install but this time I will choose not to re-use the home directory when asked after inputting passwords.
EDIT:
I did another install and after inputting my passwords, a series of boxes pop up which basically force me to save my old home directory if I want to create a new home directory so I do so. My new home directory is afab4. My old home directory is saved to afab4.001
This is a nice touch to be able to re-use or save the home directory.
I would think though back at the beginning of the install if one does not check the box asking to save the home directory, it should just format the partition and let you do a fresh install.

I installed the 64-bit onto my production laptop by swapping out the hard disk I use for everyday use for 6 hours of testing.
I didn't test everything but wanted to focus on the meta installers, which went without a hitch. The output at the end of each process can be a little confusing and it was not clear after I made multiple selections that they were all done, had to recheck to make sure, but every metapackage selection completed successfully.
Updating the fluxbox menu was simple and worked perfectly, picked up the new packages and removed the few that weren't there.
The nonfree codecs metapackage failed on w32codecs, so it needs to be updated to use w64codecs, though this only installs support for realaudio, so not really necessary to even have it there except for libdvdcss2.

Webcam worked after installing more glx support, wireless, sleep, sound, thermal throttling, screen dimming etc all worked just fine, however after the mass install, including kde standard, many apps started using something like freeserif fonts instead of the usual sans type and the result was butt ugly. I doubt any real world user would subject a system to such torture, so not an issue with antiX, just a report in case anybody finds a similar issue.

As far as I can see, 13 works just fine.

Maybe usb-tray should be installed and enabled when installed?
I really like it.

Ok, I have installed this beta 1-i386.iso with dd on the stick and here my"old men" on sda2.
Even that was done within 10 min.

As with the _64bit.iso everything works right away.
Also satellite TV with the help of me-tv is not a problem.

Also really good here, the"mount" on the GUI.

In fstab I added only the UUID of sda10 and 11.
Only the entry:"# Added by antiX" is generated again automatically, although manually deleted.
The sda2 is in line 2

Subjectively, one senses, default - everything is designed for moderately-rox fluxbox.

I will look into this.

Is that fstab from a full install or a Live/Frugal install? The dd command created a LiveUSB but I am guessing that you used that to do a full install on sda2.

When did the /dev/sda2 entry get automatically added?

If this is a full install then you should delete (or rename) / etc/udev/rules.d/90-fstab-automount.rules. That should prevent entries like the /dev/sda2 entry from being automatically added (and deleted). That file should be automatically deleted (or renamed) when you do a full install. What install program did you use?

This is a complete installation.
BitJam wrote:When did the /dev/sda2 entry get automatically added?
Unknown.
It struck me because I for the correction of records: sda10 and sda11 in UUID designation (all others were ok)these"Added by" line was deleted before.
Immediately after installing it was not there.

The installer GUI (incidentally very good German translation __{{emoticon}}__ )

Do you have a upgrade available via smxi ?

@Eino

I do not understand what you want to"upgrade"?
The ISO is downloaded and comes with this command (for me) on the stick:

Code: Select all

# dd if=/media/DATEN/Distris/antiX/antiX-13-beta1_386-base.iso of=/dev/sdb
From this stick, the computer is booted.
Finally, with the help of the installer of antiX installation on the HDD is done (sda2 partition with me).

Any other questions? __{{emoticon}}__

Simple upgrade from alpha2 to beta1 via smxi that's all.
