Sorry - I don't really know what I'm doing here. I did try both (also hit refresh) with no luck.

Hmmm. Your iwconfig shows something is being detected in wlan0.
All can think of is go back into wicd preferences>external programs and try using dhclient instead of automatic. then try refresh again. Don't know what else to tell you because I never had to much luck with ceni either. I have used rutilt though successfully to connect wirelessly though after a install. It is in Control center also.

Dan,
Did you have any luck with the instructions in the Debian page? I forgot to mention to use apt-get rather than aptitude as the page says.

I saw that you were doing
iwconfig
Did you do the
ifconfig wlan0 up
also?
Then use ceni (or wicd)? Sorry if I posted the obvious.
