After a apt-get upgrade & apt-get dist-upgrade my system (antix 13.2 + Debian __{{emoticon}}__ no longer logon LXDE.
I'm not sure about the dependency updated that cause that problem and how fix it.

Any idea?

most people reading here (including me) probably don't use LXDE.

what repositories are you using?
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list

Based on package version numbers in what you pasted, looks like you have a mix-n-match of packages from"wheezy" and from"jessie", e.g.

Well my system comes from antix 13.2 so was Debian 7 some months ago, maybe I have some garbage. But the system not login since yesterday, something in wrong in the last dist-upgrade.

This is my current configuration

Code: Select all

deb http://ftp.es.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.es.debian.org/debian/ jessie-backports main contrib non-free
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org jessie main non-free
I see one error on the startup, maybe is the reason of the error but I'm not sure if this error is raised only since yesterday.

Code: Select all

systemd-logind: Failed to start user service: Unknown unit: user@0.service

That's your problem - systemd - AntiX doesn't use it - you now have a 'mongrel' of a system.

Probably best to use a live '15' to back up your data & then install it.

antiX-13.2 uses wheezy by default. When did you change it to jessie?

I asked about sources list because I couldn't recall whether 13.2 sources explicitly stated"wheezy" or"testing".

If it states"testing" and someone boots an old 13.2 install nowadays and performs dist-upgrade...
would wind up with the unhappy surprise CGarces describes, right?

antiX-13.2 default is wheezy not testing. here is the release announcement.

Separate from the systemd interplay, there's no"undo-dist-upgrade", no"how back to" command, or utility.
All those packages that got upgraded, even if you manually force a downgrade on each of them,
it's likely that some config files will wind up containing content which does not match the state of your system.

At this point, if you don't have a backup you can restore from... copy your $home elsewhere for safekeeping, because a fresh install will be necessary.

I use exactly that link... that purge the systemd but not fix my problem.

Executing from console startlxde still showing the same error

Code: Select all

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
But I don't know the cause.

lxsession-edit has been removed, replaced by lxsession but I don't know if is related

Then your breakage is with lxde components like lightdm and such. I fixed one broken log in snafu by uninstalling slim and installing xdg login long long ago, I can't swear that will get you to a desktop or not though. I don't know what login manager you are using. Would not the command be startx lxde?

Maybe a reinstall is in your future. I gnaw on problems like these quietly on my own till I get backed into a corner.
Then copy and paste music, movies, etc..... to a big usb drive and reinstall and start over if no joy.

xdg not fix my problem.
Without a login manager, launching the session by hand using startlxde, I receive a GTK error, maybe not is related to the login manager used, and it's a problem for LXDE.

Reinstaling the LXDE not fix the problem.

Maybe reinstall (back to old ms windows times!) it's the only solution

Install AntiX 15 - that way you'll be up to date & safe to upgrade in the future. __{{emoticon}}__

Look at the logged errors in /var/log/Xorg.0.log
if you performed the dist-upgrade via synaptic or from a terminal app inside a desktop session,
maybe some config got overwritten which now interferes with x server or your graphics driver?
If so, perhaps bootline init 3 and reinstall your graphics driver might remove the problem.
