Durn, give a bro some time to respond as we are a small community.
Try installing a older kernel. I need a older kernel on this older atom netbook myself.
I run testing and unstable repos depending on my install on certain gear. No error codes or enough info like ceni errors when ran from terminal or aplay readouts or even
or alsa mixer screenshots.

My bad on misreading the wait. Try reading and posting in 100+F heat to know where I am coming from. __{{emoticon}}__

A simple bump instead of a attitude change would have sufficed.
As always. I have broad shoulders though to shoulder my mistakes and take the blame.Jerry wrote:<cough>5 days and 4 hours</cough>Plus 4 hours is not a long wait

of note this morning I setup a new antiX-15 install with testing repos enabled (as noted by others, the installer does not respect the choice for testing repos).
however, a dist-upgrade this morning removed the following packages:
antix-installer, cups, cups-core-drivers, cups-daemon, grub-customizer, hplip, libarchive12, libhogweed2 libnettle4 libqt4-gui, ndiswrapper-common, printer-driver-gutenprint, printer-driver-hpcups, printer-driver-postscript-hp, printer-driver-splix, xserver-xorg-video-modesetting, xserver-xorg-video-siliconmotion
after the upgrade, cups of course no longer starts, and edit icewm settings is missing from control center. and there is a memory monitor and some sort of power monitor enabled in the system tray that I didn't configure and can't figure out how to get rid of. I did not lose network or sound though. very very strange stuff in the testing repos.
so if the OP is using the testing repo, I heartily suggest if he chooses to reinstall, to stick with the stable/jessie repos.

No problem Jerry. I was on vacation most of the week last week and was off line. So I can see how days could have gone by as I am usually the 1st to reply to a post here if I see no answers.
I know the OP does not know this. Oh well. Just self inflicted wounds, but not mine.

tracked down the cups problem...cups now has libsystemd0 as a dependency, but its not installable.

Comment out 00systemd in / etc/apt/prefernces.d I guess.
Then re-enable after the cups fix. Systemd is like Hawaiian lava flow. Slow but steady.

actually, I did lose my network upon reboot as well. hmm....
turns out a nameserver (dns server) is not being written to / etc/resolv.conf upon boot. simply taking the interface down and then backup resolves the issue, until the next boot. you can do this either with ifup/ifdown at the cli, or reconfiguring with ceni or disabling/reenabling with wicd.
so something with the networking startup chain is failing at boot to write the nameserver address to the / etc/resolv.conf.
i fear the hand of systemd here, but I can't prove it.
edit: btw, this was testing with a wired interface, so I don't think wireless is really the culprit here anymore.

removing my eth0 interface from / etc/network/interfaces and then just allowing the wicd-daemon to handle the configuration survived reboot. The network interface worked as expected.
