Post the specs of that box, ie CPU and RAM and we'll see if we can help get it working.

If so. What are the last few messages during Quits?
Just wondering because I have one emachine desktop computer that stops at
waiting to load /dev
with antix newer kernels. I installed AntiX 11 on it and use a 2.6.38 liqourix kernel on it.
Nothing newer will boot on that Desktop computer. I have tried via smxi.
I am not saying this is what may be stopping you from booting. Just relating what happened
to me on only one of the many computers I run AntiX on.
When you say try to install 20 times. Are you actually saying when booting the live cd?i tryed to instal antix 20 times now , after the start screen it start to load the kernel etc

If so, then you should try running the memtest program and see what happens.
The fact that you can install XP indicates the hardware is probably working. It is strange that all flavours of Linux fail. The Pentium III instruction set should be fine.
Assuming you are burning the Linux cds yourself but the XP cd is commercial then the problem might be associated with how you burned the cds or an incompatibility between the drive you burned the cds on and the drive in your laptop.
OTOH if all the Linux distros fail when loading the kernel, it indicates that there is a common failure mechanism and it is not just badly burned cds. Maybe there is some BIOS setting that needs to be changed.
Here is a link to some

that may be useful. If this doesn't help, I suggest you Google(Linux sony vaio pcg-954c) and see if someone else has other tricks you can try.
We need to know exactly where the freeze occurs. Can you describe the"start screen"? Does it look something like the image I attached?seel34 wrote:i tryed to instal antix 20 times now , after the start screen it start to load the kernel etc

No, in the pic:
close to the bottom, there is a line that says Boot options, and a long string of...boot options.
You can"adjust" that line, or get rid of it completely, with the backspace, or arrow buttons.
If you remove all of it, and just type ro, or nothing at all, I dunno, but it might work?
Uh, at least it won't hurt anything, right?
If that don't work, maybe try the cli-install (init3) and see if it does anything then? if that works, you will get something like:
#yourname@pc : where you can type stuff

Just curious. How long have you waited when it says booting the kernel before giving up. It might take a couple of minutes to get past that point is why I ask.
My choice on boot up is antiX-fluxbox-no-icons. when I boot live. That should not make a difference.
I think memtest is under Boot options that Bitjam and rust collector Have mentioned. Like Bitjam said. Run a memtest first for about 3 to 4 hours to see if any failures occur due to bad ram. That is why memtest is available on boot.
Vaios ,Emachines, and Aplle/Mac can be a PITA sometimes because they are of a different breed of hardware.

The page I linked to above was from a person who got a Sony Vaio PCG-Z505LE to boot Linux. They said that you have to use F2 to get to the BIOS when the machine starts to boot and then turn off Plug-and-Play (PnP).
People have tried to boot Linux on just about any kind of computer imaginable. If you are having trouble getting Linux to boot then you should Google(Linux <computer model>). You should find instructions if people have had success or war stories from a series of failures.
