Available from the usual place or via apt-get.
If this is ok, we'll go with this one for final or if not keep the 3.3.3 version.
Ignore 'errors' about symbolic link. They are just non-fatal warnings.
Comments welcome.

Yes. But it should be ok for M11 version of antiX as well.
I haven't uploaded the new kernel to the antiX repo yet as I would like some feedback first. On my boxes, it works very well.
To install, download the files and use dpkg -i *.deb

The kernel seems Ok. Suspend and hibernate do not work from the"Log Out" gui box. However, suspend works on my Dell using the Fn hotkey combination.
antixsnapshot I cannot get to work. It makes the iso file OK. I burn it to a DVD and I get the message after the bootmenu screen:
Fatal Error
Could not find linuxfs file"antiX/linuxfs"
I did this 3 times with the same result.
It does this also when I run the cli-installer option in the bootmenu..
I am making my new snapshot from a previous snapshot cli-install. Don't know if this makes any difference.
I never had a problem with the previous version of antixsnapshot with the 3.3.3 kernel in fact I made a successful snapshot earlier this morning.
EDIT:
Well, I am not one to give up so easily and run without exploring other possibilities. Anti you indicated you had successfully made a snapshot.iso..
I thought about this, examined my linuxfs and realized it was 2.6GB in size. Maybe too big ?
I chopped pictures and documents, a couple big iso files and some other useless stuff and got it down to 1.1GB
Ran antixsnapshot to create an iso. Burned it to DVD with Simpleburn.
I am posting this live on my freshly built antixsnapshot!
EDIT2:
Installed my antixsnapshot via the cli-installer option to sda1 and installed grub to mbr.
I am posting this from my new hard drive install from an antixsnapshot!
I do wonder though if there is a size limitation on the antixsnapshot app.
EDIT3:
Added about 1GB of files and did another antixsnapshot. Burned to DVD and it boots and runs fine.
RC time!

afab4, could you try with the work directory set to root in /etc/antixsnapshot.conf
work_dir="/root/work"
Or, were any of the previous snapshots with the 3.3.3 kernel over 2.5GB in size?

For suspend/hibernate, do you have resume=/path/to/swap/drive in the kernel boot line? eg resume=/dev/sda2
Edit: Also try typing in a terminal (root) pm-suspend or pm-hibernate

Nope.
I commented out the root line because of grub error 21. The radeon entry in kernel line is a left over from when I installed this on the Acer Aspire One dual core AMD Laptop with 15 inch screen. I moved this card over to the eeepc 701SD netbook and made it work via some tweaks last night.Code: Select all

pm-suspend as root in terminal worked Anti.
Now the filler. I hit the power button to bring Desktop back up. Everything seemed cool. Opened Iceweasel. No connection. So I look at wicd in taskbar. It is not connected.
I right click on wicd in taskbar to use shortcut for connecting again. Wicd icon disappears.
I open root termiinal and type in wicd-gtk
I got a ton of errors (I don;t remeber exactly what they were)
I figure I will log out and back in. Button did not work in Logout gui.
Cpu in conky is maxed out. This is freaking me out now.
I figure. Cntrl+Alt+Backspace. will log me out.
Boolla. I get ext2 file errors scrolling like lightspeed across the screen.
Hard shutdown time with power button. Reboot SD card.
Everything OK now. I figure this flash card and eeepc 701SD and ext2 file system combined just can't stand the strain I guess. Might work better on a internal conventional install. So this post should be taken with a grain of salt.

Ok. I shutdown and pulled external flash card. I booted my internal AntiX install on internal ssd drive instead. I have not installed the new kernel yet on internal drive yet on this netbook.
As you can see. I still have AntiX 8.5 full iso on this netbook on internal ssd drive. Suspend Button worked in Logout gui. Wicd connected back up OK after tapping power button to get back to a Desktop. So internal install in better than what I posted above.

I had an antiXtest2.iso and a antiXbaseT3.iso in my home directory that I failed to remove proir to the snapshot with 3.3.5
Those 2 added almost an extra gig to the snapshot.
The successful 3.3.5 snapshot included the same files as my 3.3.3 snapshot. It is 1.5GB
Looking back at my previous snapshots, the largest was 2.0GB
if you still want me to try a larger antixsnapshot using the work_dir="/root/work" I can do so by just copying the 2 antix iso files back into my home directory.
No, none of my previous 3.3.3 snapshots were quite as large as the failed 3.3.5. or over 2.5GB.anticapitalista wrote:afab4, could you try with the work directory set to root in /etc/antixsnapshot.conf
