Not necessary. It appears that there is a size limit for the iso to boot, but I have no idea where or why this happens.

Yikes, everybody else is working on advanced stuff.
This 3.3.5 kernel boots OK on P200MMX and on K6/266MHz.
Ram usage with 64M, same really as with 3.3.3 kernel. inxi gave:
Init3 13.3/57.5MB; rox-fluxbox 27.3/57.5; wmii/dwm about 20/57.5

I have a small issue, maybe...not sure if it is a kernel issue, or something else.
Wireless drops out sometimes.
I was digging around in a terminal, trying all the connectmetotheworld-ish things I could remember,
and found somewhere that it was caused by rf-kill?
So, I believe my wireless card gets shut down, for some reason?
It does not happen all the time, but it never happens with the 3.2.9 kernel, and I am not sure about the 3.3.3, but will try, and see if it happens there too.

Installing now on my IBM A22M Laptop. Will edit post after a reboot which I have not done yet. This is going to be a log readout because maybe new users may encounter some of the errors I got plus also just showing instructions on how I installed new kernel.
For the novice people. I removed dkms because I only run Antix on this Laptop. No Windows are installed here.
So no need for dkms for me.
Edit: rebooted. No problems. My bootup is faster. Ram usage is low in Icewm desktop. My startup sound tells me sound is working. I don't have wireless drop outs like was mentioned in rust collectors post. I don't have wireless problems with my pcmcia Belkin F5D 7010 ver. 6 card like JXR has with his Belkin card (which is a older card than mine with a different chipset).
I need to run inxi -U next I guess. This Laptop does not see a lot of service lately with all the other toys I have. __{{emoticon}}__

I've just downloaded the 3.3.5 kernel for my Lenovo laptop. This is a Y410 model from the Lenovo 3000 laptop series, vintage 2007-2008. I've found this system to be a bit quirky every now and then. It's run antiX and MEPIS kernels well, but sometimes sound gets picked up and configured, and other times it can be"iffy" and not work. I've also, believe it or not, had trouble getting Liquorix kernels to work well on this box, though they work great on my Gateway system. Ironically enough, the Gateway happens to have a Broadcom 4311 wireless network card. A few years ago, that was sometimes problematical for me, but I've done so much research on that card that I rarely have problems there, either with wireless networking or with other things, except a quirky problem, where sometimes I can't get a console mode in single user or run level 3 unless I first boot multi-user and then drop back.
So when I get this kernel installed here, it will be a good test, because this hardware can sometimes present a challenge. This kernel already works great for me on the Gateway.
Here's my setup, running with the 3.3.1 kernel; I'll write back when I reboot, using the newer kernel:

OK, I'm running with the new antiX 3.3.5 kernel on my Lenovo 3000 Series Y410 laptop, using my custom antiX core M11.0 vintage setup, with Xfce on the desk, and my own regularly downloaded instance of Seamonkey Nightly Internet Suite.
To make sure that video works, I played a Billy Joel Live YouTube video,"You May Be Right":

(I just may be the lunatic who is crazy enough to run this custom setup!) __{{emoticon}}__
Anyway, here's a fresh inxi dump with the latest data; this works well:
