I have seen only the two reviews mentioned. Of the two I prefer Arindam Sen, who reviews and gathers performance data in a useful fashion. Sadly Dedoimedo is no longer as useful as once he was. I still go there but I am inclined to put much less stock in what he says. Anti nailed it; Dedo loves his bling. That is not irrelevant but it is not the entire story. I look at it this way; if you really like Suse KDE antiX is probably not your cuppa.

There is a third review now, kind of fun to read:

Here's one. He didn't like it because it wasn't the right color.

I still say FUNCTION is better than FLUFF.
I once had a 1955 Panhead Rat. I wasn't pretty. It was ugly;leaked oil constantly; held together with baling wire and bubble gum;needed constant repair. Honda riders wouldn't park near me. But it ran and ran and ran.

Does anybody see a need to add this to the reviews we report on the MX website? This is not a review in any normal sense of the word IMO.

I know this post is old, but I had to laugh at the Dedoimedo review. In my search for a lean & mean distro I ended up here, after trying many. I agree with ya'll that MX-14 is fast, very functional, stable, worked ootb and packed with a good selection of apps. Who cares if someone thinks it's ugly...that's subjective anyways. Most users want to make it their own anyways, as far as asthetics go. Take a peek at my screenshot in the screenies thread...I'm no config expert...but an hour or so and a person can make it their own.

after installing mx14 on three old computers two of them having single core cpu's and one quad core and having a few problems with vidio on my old laptop, and sound on the quad core which were resolved varry quickly I seem to keep picking mx-14 at boot up for most of my computing. thanks to everyone involved with this distro!!!!!

I recently installed MX-14.3 on a spare partition of my machine (specs below), and I'd like to thank anticapitalista and everyone else in the community involved with its development. I'm impressed with the distro thus far; it's clearly designed with great attention to details and extras -- such as the Nvidia installer, multimedia codecs installer, and Conky Manager (I enjoyed experimenting with it, since I'm fairly new to conky). I was also pleasantly surprised by most programs' currency and a more up-to-date kernel . . . It seems to me like Debian Stable with backports.
I first heard about MX-14 from reading Dedoimedo's review, and although I appreciate his knowledge, he does focus more on aesthetics than I do. I don't need something with a ton of bling out of the box; I prefer stability and speed (if possible).
I multi-boot Linux on this computer, and I also felt that the installer was user-friendly from that perspective. I appreciated that there was a clearly stated option to install GRUB2 to the root partition (rather than the MBR). I chose this option, and despite the caution that it was for"expert users only", I didn't have any problems.
Thanks again to everyone for this hidden gem. __{{emoticon}}__ I'm sure I'll have questions as I continue to explore MX-14.3.

Hello everyone! Many thanks to the developers of the OS. I have tried many different Linux distributions, last year I worked in Linux Mint, basically. I accidentally found the MX-14, and went to sample it in one nettop. A few days later I set MX-14 has four computers. It is the first operating system, which I have never needed to ask questions to the community or to seek solutions to difficult issues elsewhere. So, recently released Linux Mint 17.2, I tried it on one computer ... and on the same day back on the MX-14!
Total, MX-14 works great on fanless nettop Eglobal Intel Core i5 3317U, Eglobal Intel Core i5 4200U and IN-10GU Intel Celeron C1037U, and netbooks with Intel Pentium B960.
I do not need the extra eye candy, I prefer XFCE and MX-14!
Success in the development of distribution!

That is great to hear, thanks.
BTW: do you have any time and interest to help us with translating into Russian? We have quite a bit done already, but would love to bring things (MX Tools, for instance) up to date. If yes, please post over on the MX Translation Forum:

I have registered on the forum.mepiscommunity.org, but the activation of I never got. Today, once again re-activation requests and received: The activation e-mail has been sent to your e-mail address. And again, to no avail!
On transifex.com I registered successfully.
I hope to find time to translate, perhaps a little later. In the meantime, there is a problem.Jerry wrote:BTW: do you have any time and interest to help us with translating into Russian? Thanks--sorry to hear you had trouble. I asked the Forum Administrator to look into it, and he says you can now log in with the username and password that you registered.
On Transifex, if you registered with a user name other than the one you are using here, please let me know. Once all is set, you will want to work with this archive:

url was:"https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/antix-development/resources/"
linktext was:"https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/an ... resources/"

As you have time, I recommend you start with the mx-* resources:
mx-bootrepair (Russian 33% done)
mx-codecs (29%, very short)
mx-findshares (30%)
mx-flash (18%)
mx-installer (97%)
mx-menueditor (21%)
mx-packageinstaller (35%)
mx-snapshot (13%)
mx-switchuser (0%, very short)
mx-tools (79%)
mx-user (12%)
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

потрясающий!
That looks all correct, thanks. I try to sample the translations with translate.google.com to make sure they are not something weird.
If you can send me (Jerry3904) a PM message on the MX Forum when you have something translated, I will get that information to the maintainers. This is great, we love to improve our localization--and we have many Russian users of MX-14!
