WHICH control center app?
In a previous step, did you successfully generate an iso?
An error message should have displayed on the screen, or should be present in a logfile.

The option was"Install to USB delete partitions (AntiX2Usb)" on the Antix16 machine. There was no error message, it just executed way to fast considering it was supposed to copy 800+ mb to the flashdrive. I had used the same flashdrive for antix16 before, and that came up when i tried to boot it. I did it twice, and finally redownloaded under windows and used rufus. I can try again and check logs if I knew which log file.
Tried to use boot cheat code acpi_osi='!Windows 2015'
I've never heard of that boot parameter; I have no idea what it supposedly is/does. The cheat code is needed for the i7 is my understanding. Otherwise it gets acpi errors and X had resolution problems. The i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 cheatcode was needed to get suspend to work.

Control center says invalid password trying to change screen resolution
CapsLock on? FWIW, I couldn't replicate that problem.

No capslock. Happened 3 reboots in a row. Its happening on all options that pop up the password box. Not a big deal for me.
If I run Web Browser
In my testing,"Web browser" from menu launches firefox. No problems.

Happened 3 reboots in a row.
Scroll bars don't work right in firefox. They don't move you one page at a time when you click on the bar.
That might be beyond the control of the antiX devs.
visit about:config and filter on"scrollbar" (and separately, on"smoothscroll").
If you can identify which preference should be tweaked, the devs can provide an overriding default in
/usr/share/firefox-esr/distribution/distribution.ini

I will have to look into that...
Window border on lxterminal is invisible. Can't grab the edge via mouse to resize the window. Changing to different theme icenoir helped with window edge, but get apple logo menu and all window buttons look the same. None of the themes provided have rollup window option, like bluemetal has.
I agree that the window edge of the default iceWM theme is hard to grab.
TIP: (rollup) regardless of iceWM theme, when you right-click a window's titlebar... Tada!
TIP: in both iceWM and in fluxbox, you can Alt+ hold RightMouseButton and drag to resize a window

Yes, that worked, thanks
Gparted is missing from the menu.
Previously, someone (or several people) criticized the redundancy of displaying"stuffs" both in the menu and in the ControlCenter... so we've arrived at the status quo: Gparted (and luckyBackemup) are suppressed from menu b/c they are available via ControlCenter.
Yes I found it,

I found the nVidia drivers option. It ran ok, but will be lost on reboot I guess. I setup persistence and will see if things get saved. I had the same password problem with setting that up, but was able to run from terminal as root..... Rebooted. Selected persistence this time. Lost all changes except network stuff, no idea why that wasn't lost. Reinstalled nVidia drivers. Hoping it will work after reboot. Argh! not enough space on flashdrive"antiX Save Persistent Root Error: Have 215 Need 376"... Instead of rebooting, I cancelled and am resized the root persistence to 500mb... Will try again tomorrow.

@skidoo

The blurred conky problem happens without changing desktops. All I did was change icewm themes.

Now if there is something changed in desktop-session that starts two...I'm not sure I checked that.

I know you and I suggested a patch for when you change wms but I have no idea if it was implemented.

Creating a live USB with iso2usb doesn't work, the USB stick doesn't boot on two machines then. Using dd command works.
It boots fine with toram option and I can install to an ext4 partition. But as with previous version I cannot intall to a btrfs partition, neither selecting"format - yes" nor"format - no" works. The same error message as in the previous version occurs and the installer goes back to step 1.

Conky is delayed about 2 seconds after the background comes up on all my rigs so far except the Dell Latitude D 630. My poor eyes see it opening first I believe on it.

See the same 2 second delay for conky on this laptop.
Booted to the stick nicely, but did see a 5 second delay before the desktop came up.

As a followup to what thriftee mentioned about border width,
and toward facilitating self-help in globally overriding the width of iceWM themes
I'm suggesting to add the following into the foot of /etc/skel/.icewm/preferences

@thriftee
for immediate use, you can visit
ControlCenter }} Desktop }} Edit iceWM Settings
paste this into your preferences file, and begin experimenting with setting global border (and resize corner) widths

Code: Select all

#################################
###
### TO SEE OTHER AVAILABLE iceWM CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS,
### VIEW /usr/share/icewm/preferences IN A TEXT EDITOR
### AND COPY/PASTE ANY LINES OF INTEREST TO YOUR ~/.icewm/preferences
###
### AFTER YOU REMOVE THE LEADING (#) FROM A LINE AND TWEAK THE PARAMETER VALUE
### AND Save THE EDITED preferences FILE,
### RESTART iceWM TO SEE THE EFFECT OF YOUR EDIT
#################################
### THE FOLLOWING ARE (OUT)COMMENTED BY DEFAULT.
### YOU CAN GLOBALLY SPECIFY/ENFORCE WIDTH OF iceWM WINDOW BORDERS,
### THEREBY OVERRIDING BORDER SPECS STATED WITHIN INDIVIDUAL iceWM THEMES
### BY UNCOMMENTING

### Consider border frames when maximizing horizontally
# ConsiderHBorder=0 # 0/1

### Consider border frames when maximizing vertically
# ConsiderVBorder=0 # 0/1

### Horizontal window border
# BorderSizeX=6 # [0-128]

### Vertical window border
# BorderSizeY=6 # [0-128]

### Horizontal dialog window border
# DlgBorderSizeX=2 # [0-128]

### Vertical dialog window border
# DlgBorderSizeY=2 # [0-128]

### Resize corner width
# CornerSizeX=24 # [0-64]

### Resize corner height
# CornerSizeY=24 # [0-64]
For JWM, I found no means of globally declaring a window borderwidth pref. User would need to edit
~/.jwm/theme
~/.jwm/theme.dark
~/.jwm/theme.light

and / or
~/.jwm/themes/*
find within the theme file, and edit:
<width>integer value</width>

For fluxbox, a global override can be declared within ~/.fluxbox/overlay
The relevant lines to edit are
window.borderWidth: integer value
window.handleWidth: integer value
window.frameWidth: integer value

@Shay
"Conky is delayed about 2 seconds"
Yes, the delay is intentional/necessary.
Within the session startup file,"sleep xx" commands are interspersed between each startup item

@dolphin_oracle
"blurred conky problem happens without changing desktops. All I did was change icewm themes."
Yes, and... the act of changing the theme in iceWM triggers a session restart.

Fluxbox has a separate"Reconfigure" command to perform same without restarting the session.
(FWIW, this internal command can be called via a keybind, and is silently called when a themename is clicked in the menu)

For testing, if you want another example item to work with, try installing"pluma" editor.
Create an autostart"pluma /path/to/some/file &"
Afterward, each time you change theme in iceWM (or otherwise trigger session restart, e.g. via"Other Desktops")
you'll see pluma issue a red warning banner stating"a copy of the document is already loaded"

Aaaargh! Me too, in a different context.
iso-snapshot stupidly revved my CPU like a jet engine for 28minutes before discovering/reporting"insufficient space".

OOTB PCMCIA Ethernet posting this online running under 70mb on a 17-year-old computer (I don't know about you but I'd have been utterly amazed to get 21mbps download and 5mbps upload way back in the year 2000, so it's even better than the original ) = AntiX Rocks !

The 2 second delay is nice to see. But on my Dell D 630, conky opens first to my old eyes.

Shay - did the same happen on a2 (live)? It could be caused by wicd (enabled on a3 but not on a2).
