Hello all,

Currently have rc3 running on my Asus Eee 1005HA. I'm having trouble getting the sound to work and video to display correctly. Background info can be found here:

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I think I found fixes to all questions, so I'll report back later

Just for info Anti. Used Gnome Baker to burn a NOP Puppy Iso. Worked good on my rc3 install on Panasonic Laptop.

Also for info. I got Java 6ru18 working in Iceape. Posted about it in MepisLovers AntiXrc3 thread also. Edit: My vision still sux. I meant the Java thread I started in Mepis a while ago.

Update. While reading another thread on Firefox locking up. I decided to check out ipv6 in about:config in Iceape. It was set to false. So I toggled it to true. Tested Iceape at javas site to verify java. Now it works.

So
typing in about:config in iceape address bar
typing into filter address bar ipv6
right click and select toggle
changes false to true
java now works in Iceape.

Hope it is still going well for everyone! SimplyMEPIS and antiX both look like they are closing in on release time soon.

Out of curiosity I downloaded and ran the Mepis 8.5 rc2 just because the last time I ran Mepis full time was Mepis 6.

After running Antix 8.5rc2 and then running the Mepis Version. The first thing I noticed was Mepis doesn't have the persistent USB installer in their control center. Just a live usb or install complete Mepis to usb.

Made me appreciate AntiX even more. Mepis 8.5 looks to be a killer Operating system and I might be installing it when the Final comes out.
I have 2 left thumbs though when dealing with KDE. So I might pass on it also. To used to Fluxbox and Icewm but ya never know with me. Image

I have been throwing IceWM on SimplyMEPIS for years now, so it was just a small change when antiX came along and started offering, first Fluxbox, then IceWM too. Both systems are great. SimplyMEPIS has a lot of easy to manage tools and a great support network. The antiX community is also terrific, and the way you can shape antiX into what you want it to be is quite amazing and excellent.
