I'm having a problem. Download appears to be ok...at least md5sum is correct. Tried two different burns and both CD's have the same problem.
LiveCD runs fine. When I start to install to hda with"auto-install using entire disk"...after"ok to format and use the entire disk..." I get to formatting swap partition and I get an error message saying,"Failed to create required partitions. Returning to Step 1". I've tried formatting with gpartition before hand and get the same result.
I just checked the hard drive by installing antiXM8 Base and it installed just fine. Any ideas?

No that didn't work either. I just can't help but think I got a bad download.

That is probably the reason.
Burn at slow speed as well.

Once you have it set up, it is a great way to test distros.

I've just run M8.2-pt1 and it's looking nice! Thanks!
However, just like M8, I'm having trouble with the sound on my

Is this something that can be fixed so that the sound works automatically, or is it something that is dependent upon the MEPIS kernel and therefore something that I'll have to live with?
Thanks also for the tip about the"fromiso" option. Booting from the CD is a real hassle on this laptop so that will save me a heap of trouble. In my case I:
1. Copied initrd.gz from the M8 CD to the /boot directory.
2. Added the following entries to menu.lst
It worked. Is it a reasonable way to do it?

Any more bugs?
I found a few and have fixed them.
Could people provide feedback about the following in particular.
1. printing
2. usb sticks/drives
3. usb devices ie mouse, cameras, phones etc
4. mounting windows drives, ntfs
5. samba/ssh/fuse file sharing
6. internet connection from wireless to dial-up

Just to remember you that the MEPIS tools localization for Portuguese-Brazil is not included yet (don't forget to include before the final release).
