Blew away 8.5 on my IBM A22m. Installed AntiX 11 i686 full iso from a pendrive using plop.

No problems. Backed up some music and wallpapers and conkys and other stuff. my inxi running Firefox 4

just to confirm that antix M11 will boot on a usb1.1 port using the plop boot manager. I'm posting from a liveusb running on usb1.1, booting from a plop floppy. (sony vaio pcg-fxa32, what I affectionatly call my"old sony", which still has a working FDD).

although apparently the spell checker in iceape is defaulting to spainish, I think.

anti, its very much easier. I used the antix2usb tool in control centre to make the usb thumb drive. No problems what-so-ever. Defaults all the way. Its gotta be the kernel change, because earlier rc's still did not boot. The hardest part is making the plop disk, and that isn't particularly hard. I believe roky has some notes that certain versions of unetbootin also work.

just tried making a usb thumb drive with unetbootin (latest for windows, 549 ). works with the plop boot floppy just fine.

Things are well....thanks for asking. Sorry for the delay.

Looking forward to trying 'Jayaben Desai' but haven't been successful in booting from usb drive. I tried the antix2usb, liveusb-creator and unetbootin without success. I have not given up on it yet, however.

I don't have a working CD/DVD right now. I just built a new more cutting edge machine in a very small case and am looking for the shortest DVD drive I can find to put in there. Extra room is stingy, but a blazing fast machine. Booting the new controversial fedora 15 in around 15 seconds.

If you just want to use the usb stick to boot antiX try the isohybrid method:

dd if=name_of_the_iso.iso of=/dev/sd_name_of_the_flash_drive

eg

dd if=antiX-M11.iso of=/dev/sdc

you might need a rootdelay=20

I tried dd as well, unsuccessfully. I double checked and it seemed to copy fine to the usb drive...I think the problem is in the bios or bios choices when choosing what to boot from...something wonky there. Fedora 15 successfully booted and installed though (wanted to see what all the fuss was about). When I'm home later I will try again following your suggestions.

Got a bootable usb finally...using netbootin on the"other laptop" (the black sheep of the family running windows 7). __{{emoticon}}__ Not sure why unetbootin would not work under fedora.

Anywho....nice job! Everything seems to run and work great. You guys continue to ratchet up more improvements. Default theme looks nice __{{emoticon}}__ I remember burning up quite a few winter hours working on it.

Congratulations! I'm going to take a look at the full version as soon as the dl is finished. I'm also thinking of finally creating and releasing an openbox version. Are there plans to release a core 686 testing cd (I'd prefer to start with core rather than base)? Thanks.
