Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten that detail is mentioned in MainPage of antiX wiki.

..."Those symptoms suggest that you are inadvertently choosing a default (non persistent) boot session.
During a persistent session, the conky onscreen display will include a line at the bottom stating something like"Root Persist is Enabled".
Are you seeing this?"
Thanks for all the info. I read all about Antix persistence on-line and at the second time around I tried it I did as you said, noticed the conky"warning", and I still got the password error I mentioned. Right now I saved the non persistent mode at boot time, so I boot into"normal" non persistante mode... For a newbie use of persistance mode (having to select it from the boot menu, but also configuring it from Comand Center and also at boot menu saving the default persistance mode is a bit tricky. Perhaps the CC should have a link to a short help file helping newbies set it up? On the other hand I'm aware that most newbies don't fiddle around with such"complicated" options...
Thanks for the reply!

first i have to click the file to select it, then i tried:
drag and drop - copies the file
ctrl + drag and drop - deselects the file, does nothing
alt + drag and drop - does nothing to file (grabs and moves spacefm windows with mouse)
shift + drag and drop - moves the file
in spacefm->preferences->interface, i have default drag action - automatic
if iset default drag action - link (ctrl+shift+drag) , when i drag and drop, it copies the file to desktop
i dont remember exactly, but i think in antix16 i got it to work somehow
i cant seem to create a shortcut to desktop in space-icewm, im on antix15reverseDog wrote: SpaceFM actually provides three ways of drag&drop:
(1) Simple drag&drop will move a file.
(2) If you want to copy instead just press and hold down the the CTRL key while dragging (but let it go before dropping).
(3) CTRL+SHIFT while dragging creates a symlink.
Methods (2) and (3) work best when you start pressing the key(s) before grabbing the file.
This holds for drag&drop to/from the desktop as well as between any other folders (in different tabs/panels/windows of SpaceFM) – but doesn't seem to work between devices where you always end up in copying.
If desired the default drag behaviour can be changed: View -> Preferences -> Interface ->"Default Drag Action".
