really digging the personal menu now, especially now that I have an entry for synaptic.
fun tip: with menu manager, choose to add a personal menu item, then choose any program from the list. You'll note that synaptic doesn't have one. No worries, just choose any app, and you'll get a screen that will let you change the name and launch parameters, and icon, of the app. which you can use to conform to synaptic (gksu synaptic) and by choosing an icon to match.
I did the same with my netflix entry (google-chrome netflix.com).

HTH
For minimal RAM usage choose one of the min-$DESKTOP options from the F6-Desktop menu in the bootloader. Booting to the desktop using min-icewm takes only 87 Meg total here. Some memory monitors will report an even lower value. For example, htop says only 52 Meg are used. There was a tension between keeping the memory footprint low and adding goodies to the desktop. We added the min-$DESKTOP options to try to relieve this tension. The default is to get a bunch of goodies but it is easy to disable them all.fladd wrote:Looks very nice, but: RAM usage has more than dobuled since Antix 13! It is now 130MB directly after booting into the desktop.

not posting this to the"development" thread b/c I doubt the suggestion to change would be welcome/popular
(waaaaah! grownups don't need no stinkin' clippydippy manager! Bleccch, it adds 8--12Mb to the memory footprint!)
Even if most antiX users are polyglots, all users would benefit from ready availability of a desktop clipboard manager.
With that in mind, for the non"min-" desktop sessions, I'm at a loss to understand why"keyboard switcher" widget is autostarted but"clipboard manager" is not.
related, for followup (I haven't checked):
If I'm in Toronto, Canada... or Perth, Australia and have set English + Timezone in boot menu, do I get an everpresent USA flag shoved into my tray?

Well we try to please, but there is conflict.
It was requested to NOT have clipboard auto started.
It was also requested (way back) to have the flag as a simple indicator for noobs to toggle their keyboard language.
min-* desktop does not (or should not) start the keyboard switcher.

Hey, it's cool. I do think the current build strikes a very good balance.
NOT coolI personally like the riff raff filter that keeps some humans off our lawn.

IBM T23. Pentium 3. Savage Graphics. I picked Safe graphics boot Bitjam from past experience with testing.
Saw the xorg=safe boot cheat and grinned. Just a live session test. Wicd worked OK on wireless wpa2-psk.
Expect everything else to work also.

I posted a concern. If that was seen as nitpicking, oh well.
(Looking at the d/l stats since I posted that, I'm thinking"long time since a"core" version has been released. Nice to see it's getting exposure.")
Rok, I've no"problem with you", just a strong disagreement with the POV expressed in that post.
Build it, announce via distrowatch, publish to sourceforge...
When"friends we haven't yet met" arrive here, I'm glad to have them realize not all of us here are"real men" (133t?)

Like someone already noticed, i have ext4 corruption issues without any cause.I checked all log files in /var/log and i everything seemed fine to me.Then i run badblocks on my USB to make me sure that there wasn't and hardware fault, but badblocks said that my usb has no badblocks.I solved by issuing"fsck /dev/sdb1" in a terminal from a live usb of antix.I have a acer aspire e1-522 with AMD e1-2500 CPU and HD 8240 APU and i installed antix on a 8 GB USB stick.

I've been looking for days after the error, because thecan not be installed in a virtual disk.
Until the manual GRUB installation, tells me:

unknown filesystem
By contrast, there is no problem here, even with the latest kernel siduction and systemd. __{{emoticon}}__
Thanks for the hint.Alanarchy wrote:I understood the ext4 problems were kernel source related and not an antix fault. i.e. It's going to occur no matter what distro you use, so just use a 3 series kernel.

weird....I have it installed on a virtualbox machine, with ext4 filesystem. Its the machine on which I did all the theme testing. No problems so far...Alanarchy wrote:So that's what's wrong __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__Code: Select all

my core install was tricky, as grub messed up. reinstalled grub from a live cd, and it was fine.
