Dave knows the details. You can also look at the
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://ignorantguru.github.io/spacefm/spacefm-manual-en.html#invocation-desktopmanager"
linktext was:"SpaceFM documentation"
====================================
which says:
SpaceFM includes a lightweight desktop manager to manage desktop icons and show wallpaper. This works well with Openbox, for example, which doesn't include a desktop manager. To start a desktop manager daemon, first terminate any other software which is managing your desktop, then run:

Code: Select all

spacefm --desktop
This is built into antiX-13-beta3 so it is integrated with the antiX tool for selecting your wallpaper. The"F5 Desktop" menu in the bootloader gives you all the valid combinations of <icon manager> plus <window manager> (for the software that comes on the iso file). You can also log out from X and then use the F1 key in SLiM to cycle through all valid combinations.

If i use antiX i usually use it from CD. Truth: I barely use cards or sticks at all.
My interest is in getting our software to boot in most situation. I doubt the problem you hit is unique to you.
Ups. /dev/sdb is not there, only sda with all four partitions. mmcblk isn't there neither. fdisk - l confirms that nothing is found (I said it above, but anyway: i did boot from the SD-card internal on the laptop. It does work. I don't do it all the time though).
Ah, at last we have found something.

Did you try running"mdev -s" inside the breakpoint?

One more thing to try inside the breakpoint is:

Code: Select all

find /dev -type b | egrep -v"/ram|/loop"
This should list all block devices. This should let us know if it is showing up as a different device.

What is the make/model of this computer? If the device does not show up then I will file a bug report upstream (with busybox which is what we are using to create those device nodes).

One more thing to try which might sound bizarre is to get to that breakpoint and the unplug the SDcard, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. After that look to see if the device shows up.
Waiting for the antiX-beta3-iso to finish downloading, so i can use unetbootin from the laptop and try again, here is the first part of the info:

I used bp=2
- running find/egrep gave just /dev/sda{1...4} and /dev/sr0
- unplugging the card, waiting and plugging it back in gave the same (with egrep, fdisk and blkid)
- It is a lenovo B560 laptop
- I used a liveCD created by meandean with unetbootin, and it booted fine from the laptop

As soon the download has finished i will put it on the card and reboot, then edit this post
(i can see no reason why that should help, but i will try it anyway).

Edit:
Yeah, sure enough using unetbootin from the laptop instead of the PC didn't help neither (partly that are good news, cause if it had worked it would have confused the shit out of me).

I don't think there is anything I can do to improve your situation. I will file a bug report upstream. Thank you for your help.

@nadir, I now think the problem is that we are missing a driver for your card reader in the initrd.

The card reader should show up in the output of"lsusb". I'd expect to see something like:

Code: Select all

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0bda:0139 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
I think the driver needed may be"rts5139". do an"lsmod" and see if that shows up.

If this is the problem then we can fix it in the upcoming release. You would also have to use the boot parameter"load=rts5139" or"load=auto" to get the module to load early.

First post. Running Live. My internet is too slow to go through the whole thread so excuse me if I missed something I should have read first.

Used Unetbootin with a 2 gig Kingston Data Traveler. First boot try was using F keys for Graphic (1280x1024), Desktop, USB Automount, Took out the"L" in Boot code.
Booted to cli, not slim. Logged in as demo, password demo. startx did not bring up icewm (my selection for desktop). So from command prompt which I was thrown back into. sudo reboot.

After rebooting. The only thing I did not change was the F key for graphics. I left it at auto. Everything else I adjusted again. Removed L again also from boot code.
This booted me straight into a desktop.

/dev/sdb7 is the internal sata partition Antix Beta 1 Base Iso install sits that I will install this Beta 3 to overwriting this.
Grub goes to root. Grub 2 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on /dev/sdb3 (/ partition) will identify and pick up AntiX grub in root with
"sudo update grub" in Ubuntus terminal when booted into Ubuntu.

This Install backup of stuff I wanted to keep, (videos,music,wallpapers,~/.fluxbox/styles,~/.conkyrc,~/.xmms folder (I have custom skins for xmms in there), Any way you get tghe idea. Was totally easier just moving files from AntiX base to Ubuntu. I can copy over faster than to external drive. Saves time.

Automount in /media in rox file manager works in live with no special help from me (just left click on folder). I don't know if it worked because of the F4 key selection I made for automount. Well off to do a install.

This netbook has a dead HDD, so I can only boot it from a live usb drive.

roky - Try F4 modeset and leave F5 as default. You should then get intel driver rather than vesa.

I ran lsmod | grep rts5139
but didn't get a result. After redirecting the output of lsmod to a file i think the driver in question may be:

Code: Select all

ums_realtek
and perhaps
usb_storage
is related (lsmod says it is needed by ums_realtek).
As a quick test i disabled it with"modprobe -r ums_realtek" and fdisk -l didn't show the card anymore. modprobe ums_realtek, on the other hand, made it turn up in fdisk -l's output again.

As i am not that sure, here is the output of lsmod:

Edit: Final info - after applying xdelta3 patch i can boot said SD-card by adding the boot parameter"load=ums-realtek".

Brilliant nadir. You got it in one. I think we can supply those drivers in the next iteration. Thanks again.

Just installed 64bit onto my Acer Aspire One 722 - AMD C50 & ATI graphics - seems to be working OK, all I've had to do so far is set up the soundcard in xmms & Gnome mplayer, defaulted to HDMI, reset to built in SB compatible. Used ceni to connect to internet, & type this. Good working distro.

Just finished install/upgrade from base beta1 to full rc1 64bit on Acer Aspire 5534 Laptop.
I get a funny firmware error on boot but no sleep lost on it from me.
Used the toram F key for install purposes. Works best for unmounting internal sata drive.

Good Work

I need help with getting gamer editon and doing the new way of creating an iso i am back and making the gamers edition i dint really code wish i could but if bitjam and dave help out i think we can do a great Gamers edition prolly the best one i have ever seen in linux. We need coders and support also would be nice to find the right flash player thats free of course.
