This version is very small, (c 157MB), very basic and very ugly.
It will NOT boot from a usb device (yet), so play with it in Virtualbox, on a cd or frugal hard drive.

That's about it!
It is installable to hard disk using the cli-installer. If you do install you MUST edit as root user this line in etc/inittab line before installation. Simply change demo to your new user name.

Repo is set to Debian Testing.
To reboot or halt, use sudo reboot or sudo halt.
Have fun!

I like the idea, I bet it is better made than most of the core installs I have done, so I have to try this thing.

So you testers know, the kernel used in this version will not boot the antiX live system from a usb device. I will fix this with a newer kernel.

I have uploaded an alpha2 version that should work on a usb stick. (same link as above)
This version uses an earlier kernel - 3.11.5, but apart from that, it includes the same apps alpha1

booted from USB
var/log/live reports same as ever"Possibly unknown bootcodes. Don't take this too seriously" ^M
bug (typo"basenaem") in usr/local/lib/antiX/antiX-common.sh line 329
persist-makefs ---} exploration menu is (say it politely) awkward
messed with these, but I was unsuccessful in accomplishing persistence.
persist-makefs
persist-config
persist-save
bug?
"The program create-lockfile wasn't found"
. . .and
seems like persist-config is writing to /etc/live/config/persist-save.conf
but persist-save is attempting to read from /live/config/persist-save.conf
. . .and somewhere along the way, I also encountered an errmsg"hb1 is not a device or file"
apt-get install antixcc
brought 43 dependent packages, but NOT yad.
Attempted to separately install yad --}"package not found".
Rechecked sources.d/debian.list and antix.list ...then I threw in the towel.

So this is my new main install, for now. just needed an irc client, which I thought was in iceape-suite?
And my personal favourite apps, like mc, and ssh.
I might have to replace jwm with something, but it is a very...ok wm, and nice and light.

you have a 64 bit 13.5?
Anyway, it is no problem, I don't really like chatzilla that much, but I did think it was in iceape suite?
That would make it a simple way to get most of my web needs covered.

No, not yet. Just showing you that chatzilla is a seperate package from iceape and one needs to install it.

yea, I still think it is wierd... the suite should have everything, if I wanted just the browser, I would install the browser... but that is just how it is, I guess.

Just been pointed to this version by Anti, as I had suggested something similar in the 'antix-14 suggestions' (13.5) thread, but with Firefox browser.
I think I would still prefer Firefox/Iceweasel over Iceape, as there is too much screen real estate taken up by Iceape on my netbook.
Edit: Even after getting rid of all the toolbars.

Can I reduce the height of the JWM panel? (What file am I looking for?)
Also, can I reduce the height of the top bar of applications via the window manager config somewhere(?)

fatmac - have you tried other themes? You will need to press Logout-Restart from jwm menu to see the change.
Otherwise you will need to make changes to the theme file in ~/.jwm
