For those running antiX-14R-a4 test version, could you please try the 3.18-1-antix1-486-smp kernel and headers now in the repos.

Please post inxi -F with your comments. I really would like to see if old PII/PIII boxes work, but any will do.

So, how do you interpret that inxi report? I.e., what information (as opposed to data) does it give you?

inxi will give the Linux user a lot of information on their hardware and the distro you are using. Look at this article:
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"https://code.google.com/p/inxi/"
linktext was:"https://code.google.com/p/inxi/"
====================================

Whenever you are asking a question on a forum, it is a good idea to first post the inxi -F so others can see what you have for a computer, which distro you are using, and what drivers you are using. ALL that information is given with the simple command inxi -F in a terminal.

And a screenshot of a video with lots of background action to"stress" the cpu. Not too bad with this kernel.

Here's a nice shot with human activity in the video. The cpu usage goes down even lower here.

Thanks, I am pretty familiar with all that...

My question was directed to anti, asking what the report he posted told him about the kernel he wanted to test.

That this kernel works on a single core PIII with an old nvidia card that uses the free nouveau driver by default. No need to use vesa.

I'm installing now and will update this post after install, and then again after kernel is changed...
