If no doc is available, how about a post mentioning any remarkable omissions (present in stock Debian kernels but removed for antiX kernels)skidoo wrote:Is there an antix documentation page which enumerates the antix kernel"differences, compared to stock debian kernel(s)" ?

I downloaded that liquorix kernel; I'll give it a try on the laptop when it finishes installing the 1100+ updates from wheezy to testing (after the fresh reinstall of antiX 13.2). I'd expect, if it works on a PII in your shop, it should work on the one in my laptop. Other than the NeoMagic sound hardware, there's nothing particularly oddball on the laptop's motherboard.rokytnji wrote:@S.O. I grabbed mine from

I can't swear it will work on your P2 or P3 like on mine.

I know this might sound incredibly dumb, but could someone point me to any kind of list of what is supposed to be being fixed or included in these new kernels?

You could look here:

Specifically for antiX, we need to know whether a latest series of kernel will work on old hardware, particularly old PII and PIII boxes. It seems that some do and some don't.

Thanks much anti. It shows me how little I really know, I'm afraid, but no matter. I went back thru the logs back to 3.4 just to see what kinds of things were done.
One thing I'll say for linux in general, is that things actually seem to have reasons. People were working on making things better and faster, providing functions that are actually desirable.
The MS world could learn a lot from just that concept. Their sole purpose seems to be to force people into paying to get support and upgrades, with little regard for anything that anyone would actually WANT or to make anything efficient.
The memory compression thing might be a good thing for someone with memory strapped machines, and it looks like if I was running 3.14, BTRFS might do me some good. I have tried that one a few times and had given up __{{emoticon}}__

Have de-installed it.
Thank you very much. This kernel is running perfectly. __{{emoticon}}__
is installed, was not aware of it, as ndiswrapper is not needed.anticapitalista wrote:Do you have ndiswrapper installed?

On my Dell Inspiron 8100 neither 3.14.3 or 3.14.4 antix or gnu version was able to get through a boot cycle, and all hung with a message on the display saying rtc_cmos 00:06: setting the system clock.... If you want details, I could run it again and go grab log files from it, if you tell me what you'd like to see.
