@rokytnji,

Thanks. sorted it out. I am using zram as a swap device. seems to give dramatic performance improvement in some circumstances. this website however does not show any benefit from zram. for some reason it keeps cpu at 100%. I am running on a T23 laptop with 256M of RAM, so pretty confined.

T23 - 128 or 256 MB PC-133 memory standard, 1 GB (2x512 MB) maximum

I run a T23 also with zram but I bumped mine up to 1 gig of ram. That was why I asked what I asked.
The cpu is por nada/not good for nothing, for youtube through a browser though. Due to modern times.
I killed a Ibm z60m laptop trying to upgrade the cpu to try and improve it for youtube through a browser. But my fumbling fingers just trashed it instead.

I'm mentioning cpu because no matter how much ram you have. CPU will stutter on youtube now a days and run at 100%.
I had 2 gig of ram in that IBM Z60M but the cpu was 2 steps down from what youtube needed to run smooth in the browser.
So I ordered one and tried my inexperience out.

Best laid plans of mice and men. I ended up caught in the mouse trap. It is a parts machine now.
