Has anyone tried xnoise. Its gtk music manager/player with google-code sponsorship. Might be nice for antiX. I've not been able to compile it. ./configure complains of gcc not being able to make executables.

Hey Dolphin_Oracle found how to get the ./compile to finish and succeed. Do this by installing the package libc6-dev and all it dependencies. I do not know what to enter for a make command but that will get you past ./configure. If you know the make command let me know, I have never used make.

The deb file does do a little of a loop around, on initial install of xnoise it would like to remove pidgin and some of its dependencies, then when installing pidgin again it would like to remove mpd. After reinstalling this it there is nothing else to deal with, all seems to be working just as normal. I would have to agree with you it would be a nice addition to antiX, works well and is simple to use. Tried a few different codecs performs well, light footprint while playing the matrix in a .avi format. Uses a max of around 31 mb and registers 2 - 6% on my CPU ( Intel Celeron @ 1.73 Ghz ) While playing the movie. Equal to what vlc uses and lighter than xine ( 4 - 8 % CPU, same amount of ram ). When playing music, it has a nice pannel applet in the system tray to continue running with the window closed. From a quick fly through this looks like a good addition.
on the downside, there is no real full screen mode and progress bar from what I see.
