1st I'd like to say congratz on a great distro...was a little rough going at first, tho in another life I managed to slog through Arch and Gentoo installs; my 2nd coming to Linux has been w/ more spoon fed distros (e.g, Linux Mint). This is the 1st distro to let me connect with my HP Pavillon and the much maligned Broadcom wireless card from the LiveCD (SimplyMEPIS 8 RC1 will not boot from the LiveCD despite the mode I choose--not even from failsafe). Anyway, to cut to the chase...my wireless disconnects after the lappy suspends---I know this right away b/c Conky no longer shows the router IP....sez No Address. WiCD does not work to connect wirelessly. It sees the Linksys router (I'm using WEP, btw, b/c of some wireless devices that don't do WPA), and it authenicates, but times out obtaining and IP address. The MEPIS tool works good at reboot in connecting and I can manually connect with CENI (this is what I've been doing but it's a pain to type that long key in each time I come back from suspend---I know it has a paste button but that isn't working for me (or I'm missing something easy, which could be that case). My question is is there a way to reconnect automatically after suspend or perhaps a way not to kill WLAN...I run on AC most of the time, as this lappy is a battery hog and IMHO it's too big and cumbersome to be truly portable (looking at an eee for that role). Any help here would be appreciated saving me from either reconnecting with CENI after suspend or rebooting to get the wireless back...prolly something really easy....so if it's a dumb question--apologies in advance. __{{emoticon}}__

Welcome to Antix!

After a HD install, wicd works fine for my wireless and I checked the autoconnect box. I have not had any problems losing the connection with hibernate.

I'm sorry that I don't a more specific answer to your problem.

Enjoy Antix!

I tried tinkering with wicd and the various settings and such; even checked out the wicd forums linked from this site. I found a thread with similar problems with wicd, i.e, that while obtaining an IP address it would timeout. Unfortunately there was no solution suggested. On reply was to place quotes around the passphrase, which didn't work for me. Anyway it's not a huge deal...just thought there was a easy solution that I was missing.
