I have been having considerable problems trying to get a wireless connection on my Laptop HP nc6320 using antix.
I have tried setting up Wicd and also Rutilt but cannot make a Wireless connection.
the only way I can get it is to Ceni but I have to set it up every time I switch on.
The following is the proceedure I use to connect.

Start Ceni
Choose Wlan0
Reconfigure for Wlan0
Scan
Select my Wireless connection
Enter
Enter the preshared Key
Accept
Accept.

then the connection is made OK. (However it does not save the setup.)
but this is quite a proceedure each time. Can anyone advise how to make this stick or make it automatic ???

If I use lan by cable I have no problems.

This computer is dual booted with Windows and I have no trouble connecting wirelessly With that. Also out of curiosity I loaded PCLinuxOS phoenix (which is a lite version) on another spare partition and that booted immediately after installation with no hassles.
So I assume there is no problem with the computer itself only with Antix.
I have looked at other forums that deal with Antix and it seems to be a problem for quite a few people, and does not seem to have been solved.

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully accepted as how to solve this enigma.

Welcome to Antix.

I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you on how to make the CENI settings stick. Yes, it is a hassle to have to do it every time.

I would suggest you try WICD again and click Preferences>External Programs, and then under DHCP client, rather than automatic (which is default), try dhcpd and/or the dhclient options. At least that's how I fixed it in one my laptops.

Can you post the make/model of your wireless chip/card. It may just be a driver issue.
