Hi Folks:

I am an Antix noob - although I ran Mepis 6.5 for a year (KDE)...

I'm running it on a Pent III compaq N600c - I have a few app's running and configured and am liking it very much, however - although I quite like using Fluxbox (does not get in the way), I am missing"The Desktop", you know where you drag and drop items for later use??
It appears Fluxbox does not allow use of the desktop in this way.
Well I would like to include and run the jwm window manager ( as in puppy ) I have downloaded it from the repo and installed - NOW how do I make it my default WM?

would love to find out more info on this... ...

Thanks - P

Hello:

Welcome to Antix!

You might be able to add jwm to your selections of window managers available from slim, and also make it default. In control center > desktop > edit login options and add jwm to see if it works. I have an old laptop running antix and jwm also. I'll try to make this change tonight and post if it worked.

Best regards,
Pedro

You will need to ad it to slim.conf and .xinitrc. Slim will let you choose it and .xinitrc will start it.

/etc/slim.conf

/home/username/.xinitrc

You can use fluxbox with rox-desktop to have icons on the 'desktop' for a drag and drop desktop.
Have a look at the FAQ inluded in the Documents folder.
