I installed Opera from Xoodles (great facility, awesome to have easy access to these add-ons), and it worked for a bit, then when I'd try and initiate it from the menu, nothing happened.

Re-installing from Xoodles didn't help, perhaps because it was already installed. I then re-installed through the package manager, and that fixed it, but not sure how long it will last.

Also, on re-boot, Opera thinks it's the first time I've started it and I need to re-assent to the license terms.

Any thoughts on how to ensure that it keeps working, and how to persist the license assent?

See my reply in the other post about the limits of persistence at the moment. I don't think you can fix this.
