) state that need to run /etc/init.d/hal stop, but when I try and run this from sux in terminal window, it says"no such file or directory". I've tried a find, and that returns some hal directories, but can't find the actual file.
My persistent USB seems mostly workw, but on boot I get a couple of screens of"trying to boot from ISO" before it finds the ISO and boots. I don't recall this happening with Antix 8.5

hal is deprecated and not installed in antiX-M11.
Newer versions will have better persistence without booting fromiso.

The searching for the fromiso file you mean? Yes afraid so for the release, but fixed for the future.
