I thought they were in startup under .icewm but its empty now. I need to delay the conky enough to allow the internet to come up, and might not want to run volumeicon..
Anyone know?

They are in ~/.desktop-session/startup. You can use the startup files for each window manager if you prefer. The ~/.desktop-session/startup file works for all window managers.

Well, thanks, volumeicon is there. I was also able to fix my touchpadsso thanks for the answer.
But I didn't see it starting the conky. My only reason for wanting to delay the conky was because I only check weather once every 10 minutes to keep system load to a minimum, and its just not nice having it blank for the first 10 minutes because the wifi didn't have time to come up before the conky came up.
I was thinking of using cron to get the weather every 10 minutes and just display the file once per minute in the conky. I wonder if that would solve it?

Edit the file ~/.desktop-session/desktop-session.conf and change LOAD_CONKY="true" to LOAD_CONKY="false" Then add a delayed call to conky in one of the startup scripts.thriftee wrote:But I didn't see it starting the conky.

Wow, that's a great answer. I wonder why I didn't think of that...
That all worked, and I added an icon to the toolbar for each of the programs I use most often, including alsamixer to replace the volumeicon which seems to use a lot of memory.
Every week its looking better. Pretty soon I'm going to move to the main laptop and run it all the time there as my main system.
