Is Rox"other"? Or is it a subsidiary of fluxbox?

A subsidiary as you have to use it with either fluxbox or icewm.

You can actually install the rox wm called OroboROX.

Fluxbox here. I've played around with icewm a little to get the feel of it and learn but so far it doesn't turn my crank.

Like the clean look of Fluxbox and it just seems natural to me. I struggle now with using a windows machine because I find myself right clicking on the desktop for a menu.

Yeah, I do that, too. We are, after all, creatures of habit.

I use fluxbox pretty much exclusively. I used to use icewm, I think it was with pclos, I can't remember for sure. I do like icewm. One of the things that attracted me to antiX in the first place was it had my two favorite window managers.

Fluxbox, I like the way it looks and works, seems natural to me too. It is clean and minimal, just like antiX __{{emoticon}}__

Fluxbox for me. I love it. I tried IceWM in the past and it works great but I prefer Fluxbox. I love a clean desktop. I even got rid of the"toolbar" as I really found no use for it. I can reach everything with a right click.

I voted fluxbox but normally would choose IceWM. Weird? Well, atniX has made fluxbox understandable to me! I put fluxbox on the school computers BECAUSE of it's unfamiliarity to the students, so they would be less tempted to goof off. I THINK IceWM is more noob-friendly. __{{emoticon}}__ Probably for a lot of us, it comes down to which we first experienced.

How are your students doing with antiX? I'd really like to know.
I remember Lydia made a post a while back and said that the kids preferred fluxbox, whilst the adults chose icewm.

For me it is fluxbox all the way. Like impuwat I have dabbled with icewm, and I do like it for a while, but always revert back to fluxbox.

HA! When the administration FINALLY gets the CAT-5 cables run to the library, i'll let you know! BUT it's serving it's purpose well in the science lab. It's no problem for the students to do what is needed so far -- until they try to get on YouTube! __{{emoticon}}__

Maybe the science lab students need a bit of ratpoison then!

Ooooh - you know how to bait me! I checked it out tho -- it's a little TOO much for the students. These computers are meant for student use (whether or not they've had the class with me) and i think going mouseless would be a bit over-the-top for most of them!

I'm always conscious of the new Linux user -- esp. since most of them come from Redmond. __{{emoticon}}__ Here's an out-of-the-box (read"nutty," perhaps?) idea: what about having fluxbox pinboard-OFF by default and IceWM pinboard-ON by default? So -- new users from Windows would see the somewhat-familiar look of IceWM plus"essential" icons on the desktop (internet, office, IM, etc.) but seasoned Linux vets would have that much-coveted clutter-free fluxbox desktop environ.

A third choice would be to have FOUR options at startup, namely
1 Fluxbox
2 Fluxbox w/ Icons
3 IceWM
4 IceWm w/ Icons

I'm a big fan of xfce so I installed xfce on antiX; however, it didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped (I was unprepared for the amount of customizing that was required and there were a few things that were a little buggy and hard to straighten out). I also tried installing lxde: It's not xfce, but it's not a bad compromise. Since lxde does use additional resources, I decided to stick with lxpanel and pcmanfm only (for now).

Fast, elegant, customizable, has that traditional UNIX look.
