I made several attempts to access the forum site last evening and was never able to connect.

Probably Maintenance on the Server. This forum is freebie so one does not look a gift horse in the mouth.
I see this happen at a high dollar Windows/Mac forum I mod at so it happens to everyone.
Just a blip on the radar.

I tend to use 'downforme' when I can't access a site, just so I know it isn't my computer/connection.

freeforums.org was down, so anything hosted on it also was down.
No point asking why as you won't be able to get a correct answer unless you actually speak to the person that fixed it.
