New Xorg has some heavy changes when it comes to input devices (evdev).
Best not to dist-upgrade until the all clear is given.

Just wanted to give a heads-up about the Intel 8xxx series video problem in the new xorg upgrade, I had just recently installed sidux and did the full upgrade via smxi to include kde3-4 and then xorg upgrade, when finished, and rebooted all I could get was tty, no desktop, after a bit of investigation, I decided to change from using the kernel
2.6.28-5.slh.3-sidux-686 to using 2.6.26-6.slh.4-sidux-686
All went well, kaboom came up and problem was resolved, I currently have not upgraded my antiX install, but may try this when I have some extra time.
cheers,

I have been checking with smxi to see what warnings h2 has had and what is going to be removed/installed. Today it allowed xfce 4.6 to be installed, xorg got upgraded plus some miscellaneous app changes. I also installed the latest sidux kernel.
Well, although the system is working, this is what I've found:
1-as warned, fglrx won't work with the new xorg. changed to radeon driver--no problem
2-lost scroll and tap on the touchpad-PITA
3-usb sticks will not mount automatically. Thunar normally would mount and open these without issue now it just throws errors. I must mount manually.
4-because the xfce4.6 packages are not complete, missing xfce-session, I cannot shut down normally, it just takes me to the slim log in screen.
5-xfce menus are kind of scattered, probably due to missing packages.
I'm sure there's more to pop up and will let you know.
Conclusions: Unless you have an extremely good reason to upgrade, DON"T. Wait for everything to settle down. I'm sure it won't take long until everything is back to normal.

UPDATE:
It seems mounting usb stick is only affected it they are formatted fat32. I have one stick with 2 partitions, one-fat, one-ext3. The ext3 partition mounted automatically.

I just upgrade xorg in my old Dell laptop and everything seems to be working fine. Even the usb mounting, but it was an ext3. So far, I don't see any problems. I also don't see any differences from before, so I'm not sure that the upgrade really made that much difference. I'll keep testing it and see what happens.

That's probably why my sidux XFCE setup works fine, whereas the other one was messing up. I'm using sidux XFCE right now, and everything is great.anticapitalista wrote:erie,
