I think that the 32bit version on antix with fluxbox-spacefm is going to be a little lighter than the default crunchbang (#!). If I remember correctly, #! used around 100mb of ram at idle and my 32bit antix 13 install uses around 75mb at idle.

In my case, #! was at 95-ish, and antix is 65-y

If you can't boot from usb, you'll need antiX.
Installed sizes are about 1.4Gb for antiX base, whilst #! has more programs & takes up 2.4~2.7Gb, IIRC.

Not when I tried Crunchbang. Things may have changed though since then. No inxi, smxi, sgfxi, locate, all that needed installing by me.

antiX for me. Even lighter with jwm. My 64-bit antiX/jwm idles at 85-90MB, whereas #! idles at about 120MB.

I've just had a count up of my machines, & I'm now running more AntiX than #! - that says something, doesn't it.
(My preference is for 'base'.)

AntiX has won against #! , 32 bit results on 512 MB RAM: 40.5 MB vs. 73 MB.
